Template:Level Ropey Rampage is the second level of the popular Super Nintendo Entertainment System game, Donkey Kong Country. It is also the second area of the Kongo Jungle, the game's first world.

This level takes place in a jungle during a long tropical storm. Much of it will involve the heroes swinging along vines over the treetops of the jungle. Besides this, the level is rather basic, and does not feature many unique foes or hazards. However, Armies and the often appearing enemies, Zingers are found here many times, and add a challenge to this early level. Followed by these two foes are Kritters, who appear all around the level, but do not serve as a very dangerous hazard. As the Kongs reach the end of this level, the storm will end, revealing a sunrise in the background.

In the Game Boy Advance remake of Ropey Rampage, the background is lighter and there is no tropical storm, just heavy rain.

Level Layout

The level begins with an Army, a purple Kritter, and a TNT Barrel. When Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong jump on the ledge that the Kritter is on, they will find the letter K. If the Kongs continue venturing through the level, they will find the first rope of the level, which they need to jump on, climb up, and jump off and land on a treetop ledge. Next, the Kongs must go over several more ropes and ledges, while finding a DK Barrel along the way. Then they will come to a large pit, which they need to swing across, and walk along the treetops. There they then find the letter O. The Kongs must continue going on ropes and jump over several Kritters until they reach the level's Star Barrel.

Halfway through the level, the Kongs must jump over an Army-infested pit using ropes. Next, they will find a DK Barrel, and an Army will be above them, attempting to hit them . From here, the level is fairly straight-forward. There are ledges, Kritters, the letter N, and several Zingers. The Kongs can use a tire to jump onto one of the ropes. From there they must find the letter G and the exit which leads them to the next level.

Secrets

Bonus Level(s)

  • Immediately after the letter O, the Kongs should fall into a small abyss. If they do so, they end up in a Barrel Cannon, which shoots them through a wall and into the Bonus Level. There, they must shimmy along several ropes, collecting many bananas, as well as the letter N. Once done with this, they should be able to exit the area by walking into a nearby opening. When they arrive back in the main level, they are shot out past ropes and a single Zinger.
  • Just as the storm in the level ends, the Kongs must hop over a very tiny abyss near a sign. If they turn around after the pit, and then walk into it, they should land in a barrel. It blasts them to the Bonus Level, where they must watch an Extra Life Balloon as it moves around four barrels. Once it stops, the Kongs will be put up to the challenge of finding which barrel the balloon is in, only with one try. If they choose correctly, they are awarded with the Extra Life Balloon, and then be able to leave the bonus.

K-O-N-G Letters

  • K: Found next to the first Kritter in the level, on a big platform.
  • O: On a pair of two trees after swinging from the second rope of the level.
  • N: Two N letters are strangely found in this level. One is at the end of the first Bonus Level or after swinging from two ropes near a single Kritter.
  • G: At the end of the level above the exit sign of the level on top of a tree.
