Template:Minigame-infobox Diddy's Dash is a time attack mode in the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 2. Like with DK Attack in the previous game, the objective is for Diddy Kong to complete certain levels as fast as possible.

At a certain point in levels, there is a line of stars going across the screen. This line is a checkpoint, and if Diddy is attacked by an enemy after going through the checkpoint, he ends up back at it. Each default level time is five minutes. Since Diddy is the only playable character in this mode, all DK Barrels are replaced by crates and regular barrels, with DK Coins and Bonus Areas being removed entirely.

Once Diddy finishes a level, his time is recorded. Diddy can then race through the level again to try and beat his best time. The player may only choose levels to race in that they have previously unlocked. Boss battles are not available in this mode.

Cranky's Times

Every level's high score is at five minutes by default, and if Diddy manages to beat every time, Cranky Kong reveals a few cheats that the player can enter on the Options menu's "Cheats" menu: KREDITS, HELPME, FREEDOM, ONETIME, and RICHMAN. He then challenges Diddy to beat his own level times. If Diddy beats every one or manages to have beaten it already, Cranky shares these cheats to him: WEAKLING, WELLARD, ROCKARD, and WELLRICH.

Glitches

Dixie Kong in Diddy's Dash
Dixie in Diddy's Dash

Diddy's Dash has a lot of glitches in it, likely because the mode was quickly developed and the game developers oversaw the mode's glitches. This mode's best known one is the ROCKARD/WELLARD glitch that causes Dixie Kong to be playable alongside Diddy.

To perform this glitch, the player must head to the Cheats menu of the File Selection screen and enter either ROCKARD or WELLARD. The player must then head to Diddy's Dash and select any level. When the selected level is started, Dixie appears as the other playable character. This causes more glitches to occur.

Oddly, if Diddy and Dixie change positions, Diddy's icon in the top-right corner does not change into Dixie's icon; it only shifts slightly upward or downward. Though, if the level is restarted while Dixie is in the lead, her icon takes the place of Diddy's. The glitch's effects wear off if the level is exited or completed.
