Template:Articleabout Template:Level Platform Perils is the thirty-third and final level of the popular Donkey Kong game, Donkey Kong Country. It is also the final level of the Chimp Caverns area. In the Game Boy Color version of the game, this level is the thirty-fourth level, as the result of the remake's new level, Necky Nutmare. It is the final area of Chimp Caverns in all versions of the game.

In this walkway level, the Kongs face several challenges. The main obstacle here are the many black, moving platforms scattered all over the level. Each of these platforms has a white arrow painted on them, and wherever the arrow is pointing is where the platform moves upon being landed on. As a result, the heroes are able to navigate over many abysses with these platforms. The platforms are sometimes guarded by strong foes, namely Klumps and Krushas, and even when these enemies are not on the platforms, the Kongs must avoid standing on the platforms too long because the objects fall after they move for a short amount of time. Other enemies that attempt to attack the Kongs here are Zingers, Neckies, Gnawties, and Armies.

Level Layout

From the start of the level, the heroes will have to walk down a strait path and jump on a black platform to cross an abyss. They will be lead to a curved scaffold, which they should walk up and defeat some enemies on. Farther on, the group will need to follow a banana trail onto another black platform and move to another one. This platform will lead them upwards to a set of scaffolds, where they will have to beat a few Klumps. After that, the monkeys will come up to some more black platform, in which they will have to ride on to travel over a few Zingers and then onto the next scaffold. There, they will be greeting by two Armies, whom they should defeat easily, and then hop onto the next platform. As soon, as they get on it, they will need to jump off, as if they are on to long, it will fall. They group will need to skip over two more platforms after that to dodge some Zingers, and then jump up to a high scaffold. Jumping off of that will take them to another platform. They should hop off of this quickly to avoid falling and then hop to a larger area to find two Armies, falling from a high scaffold. They will need to avoid those foes and skip over a few more platforms to enter an area full of scaffolds. They should jump over each gap and defeat several Armies until they get to another platform. It will pull them down through a banana trail where they will notice a scaffold with the Star Barrel.

Now halfway through the level, the heroes will have to ride along a black platform and make it to a small area with a lone Army on it. They should pass up the foe and ride on another platform. It will take them to the letter N, and then to a set of several platforms. Each platform will be occupied by an enemy as simple as a Gnawty, or even a Klump. After this area is passed, the Kongs will need to walk up a curved scaffold and bounce on a few tires to reach the next platform. This platform is followed by a few more platforms. The heroes will have to bounce off of the Gnawties on each one to avoid making the platforms drop them through the level. Once on the safety of some short scaffolds, Donkey and Diddy, will have to find a barrel and carry it to a platform with a Krusha on it. This Krusha can not even be defeated by Donkey Kong, so the barrel will have to be used at all costs. Eventually, they will have to jump over a lone Zinger and land on a platform. It will carry the apes to another platform with a barrel. This platform will take them to yet another platform, where the group will need to use their barrel to beat a Krusha. Throughout the rest of this area, the monkeys will have to ride along each platform, going up, down, left, or right. Barrels found on platforms will have to be used later to defeat some powerful enemies on the platforms. After this dangerous area is completely finished, the heroes will need to travel down some scaffolds to find the level's exit.

Bonus Levels

  • When the Kongs land on the level's first moving platform, they should jump up and fall under it. They end up landing on a hidden platform, which leads them to a barrel that takes them to the first Bonus Level, where they need to hit four barrels so that the K-O-N-G Letters displayed on them all spell out "KONG" in the correct order. If they do it correctly, they are given a prize. Afterwards, the primates return to the main level. If they fail to spell out the word correctly, they are forced out of the level without a prize.
  • On the very last platform in the level, occupied by a Gnawty, the primates taken downwards. Instead of jumping to the scaffolds to the right, they should continue to hover downwards and find a hidden scaffold. If they jump on this and head a little bit farther, they can find a barrel. It takes them to the final Bonus Level in the whole game, where they have to watch as an Animal Token moves around four barrels. Once it stops, it disappears, and the Kongs need to choose which barrel it stopped on. If they choose correctly, they are given the token. After they claim their prize, they exit the bonus. They are forced out of the stage without a prize if they fail to choose the correct barrel.
