Template:DKJB Kingdom The Durian Kingdom is the twelfth kingdom in Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and the fourth kingdom linked to the J Barrel. This kingdom is characterized as a fortified mountain. The Durian Kingdom can be accessed by completing all the kingdoms in the K Barrel and collecting 18 Crests. The Durian Kingdom is the dominion of Ninja Kong and Ninjapes. Donkey Kong travels through this kingdom to fight the mighty Ninja Kong, and at the end of every level he eats a giant durian.

Levels

Battle for Storm Hill

Battle for Storm Hill is the first area of the Durian Kingdom. In this level, Donkey Kong ascends to the top of Storm Hill. Cannonballs rain from the sky here, and they can easily hit the ape if he is not careful. Many Ninjapes also appear here and use a variety of attacks to slow down Donkey Kong, such as throwing shuriken, manning cannons, and directly fighting him. There is a fort in the level as well, and Donkey Kong must avoid the many Tusk enemies to climb it safely. Once Donkey Kong bites into the giant durian at the end of the level, the ape heads on to Aerie Fortress.

Level Layout

At the beginning of this level, there is a a group of three strange flowers placed near Donkey Kong. If they are hit by his Sound Wave Attack, they can give the ape some bananas. The path ahead is very barren, but has some cannonballs falling towards it. Enemies also cover the straight pathway to steal beats from the ape. The bland and empty pathway eventually leads the Kong to some Ninjapes. After the ape heads down a small, but steep, hill, a fast, yellow Hawg enemy begins to dash towards him. Once the enemy is defeated, the ape can continue down the barren area, fighting more black Ninjapes on the way. As the Kong progresses, the path becomes more flattened, and another yellow Hawg rushes into him. Once the foe is defeated, Donkey Kong can head over some small hills, passing a small Roc enemy on the way. More Ninjapes are farther ahead of here, along with a lone green Ninjape. This foe can be followed into a tall fort. At the entrance of the fort, there is a small Tusk enemy being controlled by a red Ninjape. Donkey Kong can take control of the cannon to shoot the next three Tusk cannons, which are located on a few stair-like platforms farther ahead. A rope is located behind the cannons, and it can help the ape swing to a wall. The ape is able to wall jump up the wall with the wall to the right of it to reach a higher platform, where a Helper Monkey can be found. This monkey throws him upwards past a cannon and onto an even higher platform.

Here, another Tusk cannon can be found, as well as two walls that the ape can climb. At the top of the walls to the right is a black Hawg, who shoots out flames. Once the foe is defeated, the Kong can advance to a tightrope. He can slide down this tilted rope, while jumping over a few platforms that are occupied by blue Ninjapes, to make his way into a room with some bananas. As he goes to grab these items, the wall behind him closes. If Donkey Kong is to fall while sliding down the tightrope, he lands in a low area full of more Ninjapes. A few gaps are in this area, and they are filled with some spikes. Once the ape manages to find the meeting point of the two pathways, he can follow a green Ninjape to a group of small, yellow fairies. The fairies, when hit by a sound wave, form an orange trampoline, which the ape can bounce on to progress. The trampoline sends him outside of the room, where a trapdoor closes under him. A giant spider enemy is located above the ape at this point. While fighting this enemy, several blue Ninjapes throw their weapons him, however, they disappear when the spider is bested. Once this happens, a giant durian appears on a nearby tree branch. After optionally grabbing the three Banana Bunches lined up against the wall to the left, the Kong can head over to the fruit and bite into it to end the level.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Battle for Storm Hill is referenced in Super Smash Bros. Brawl: its background music plays in the stage, Rumble Falls.

Aerie Fortress

Aerie Fortress is the second and final area of the Durian Kingdom. Donkey Kong utilizes his rope swinging and swimming abilities to make it through the heavily fortified fortress. Similar to the Battle for Storm Hill, Ninjapes use a variety of attacks to keep Donkey Kong at bay. This level also features the Jungle Buddy, Helibird, who helps Donkey Kong ascend through the fortress. After biting into the giant durian at the end of this level, the ape heads out to fight Ninja Kong.

This level begins with Donkey Kong standing on a platform near a rope. The ape can slide down this rope to reach the deepest part of the area. As he slides down, he comes to some groups of three bananas and some wasp enemies. A few additional ropes also appear as the ape slides down. At the end of the ropes, there is a large pool of water. In the water, Donkey Kong comes up to some puffer-fish enemies. Above the second fish is a short pathway leading to a few Banana Bunches. To the right of it is the main path, which is cluttered with big jellyfish enemies. After going through the twists and turns of the area, a current begins to push the ape backwards, however, he can swim through it to access a bigger area. At the end of this room is a giant fish enemy. If Donkey Kong manages to stun it, he can grab into its back fin and ride it through some walls. The fish eventually jumps onto a platform above the water, leaving the ape off before it explodes. A Helper Monkey is near here, and it can throw the Kong to a nearby rope. More ropes are ahead of this one rope, and they lead to the second Helper Monkey. This monkey throws the ape upwards to a bouncy tightrope, which can be jumped off of to reach another Helper Monkey. Fly enemies are near this Helper Monkey to attack the ape, and another rope is above them. Like the rope before, the ape can bounce off of this to jump higher than usual. A group of small yellow fairies is above this rope, and they form a trampoline when hit by a sound wave, so the rope can boost Donkey Kong to the mechanism. The trampoline can bounce him into a bigger room with a Helibird. If the ape manages to reach the Helibird in this room, who is located in a high-up nest, he can make his way past a small Roc enemy into a tight passage. While heading through the passage, a blue Ninjapes throws its weapons at the Kong to attack. Three more of these ninja enemies appear after the ape flies his Helibird through a U shaped passage. If the ape continues through here, he can enter a large room full of bananas. The small passage continues from here, however, and takes the ape to some Helper Monkeys. The helpers can throw the Kong into a higher area, unless he still has his Helibird to fly him up. In this higher area, there are some insect enemies that attack the ape. A large, moving object surrounds this room.
