Apple
Template:Articleabout Apples are a variety of fruit that appear in many Mario games. They have had many different uses throughout its many appearances.
Please note that the fruit found in Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are occasionally referred to as "Apples,"[1] but are more commonly known as "Berries".
History
Mario's Time Machine
The apple that caused Isaac Newton to first speculate on the concept of gravity was one of the historical objects stolen by Bowser in Mario's Time Machine. Mario rescues the apple from Bowser's Museum and manages to return it to 1687 so that it can properly fall for Newton.
Yoshi series
Yoshi's Story
In Yoshi's Story, Apples are the Red Yoshi and Pink Yoshi's favorite fruit, along with Melons.
Yoshi's Universal Gravitation
Apples had a rather large role in Yoshi's Universal Gravitation, where Bowser turned all of the Egglings into Apples when they fled to Yoshi's Island after the Koopa Troop's attack on their homeland. The Spirit Who Loves Cuteness, who was a friend of the Egglings, was dumbfounded at this tragedy and enlisted Yoshi to seek out the Apples and eat them, which would lift the curse upon the Egglings and restore them to their initial forms. The Apples in this game came in two colors, red and green, and, while the two colors of Apple could be found doing anything regardless of any kind of coloration code, green ones typically stayed in one spot and most red Apples glided downward on parachutes.
Yoshi Touch & Go
Apples also appeared in Yoshi Touch & Go, which Yoshi can eat. They each only give him one egg.
Paper Mario series
Paper Mario
Template:Recipe-Infobox In Paper Mario, they are a cheap item only found in Boo's Mansion. One is able to find Apples by simply Spin Jumping on various crates in the right room of the first floor of the manstion. They heal five HP, but are better put to use in cooking.
Super Paper Mario
Super Paper Mario brings Apples back; however, in the game, there is no such item named "Apple". There only is an item named Red Apple. Also, this game introduces new kinds of apples, including the taboo Black Apple, the luscious but cursed Golden Apple, the mustache-inducing Yellow Apple, the fruit-transforming Pink Apple, and the shrinking Blue Apple. (It is interesting to note that all varieties of Apple in this game simply restore five HP, except for the Black Apple, which restores only one, when used on a playable character; the above ailments are induced only when they are given to a non-playable character.) The more-useful Primordial Fruit introduced earlier in Super Paper Mario also slightly resembles that game's Apples, although the two items' exact relations are unknown.
Mario Party series
Mario Party 2
In Mario Party 2, apple is one of many fruits that appear in the minigame Honeycomb Havoc.
Mario Party 7
In Mario Party 7, the mini-game Apes of Wrath features two characters eating an apple but, two Ukikis holding a basket full of apples get mad at them and start chasing them.
Super Smash Bros. series
Apples also appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee. They occasionally fell off of Whispy Woods in the Green Greens stage. They could be thrown at other players to damage them. A smaller variety appears as food; these Apples can heal 5% health. The apples don't appear anywhere else in the game, however; they don't even appear as a Trophy.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, apples once again appeared as food that restore health, as well as a Trophy. Also, if Mr. Game & Watch hits an opponent with his Judge hammer holding a sign saying "7", an apple appears.
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
Big Apples appeared in the Apple Kingdom of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. At the end of each Apple Kingdom level, there was an oversized Apple (two times bigger than Donkey Kong) that DK needed to eat.
Super Mario Galaxy
In Super Mario Galaxy, three Apple Planets appear in Gusty Garden Galaxy, and are habited by Flipbugs, Boulders and some Wigglers. For progressing, Mario must Ground Pound the correct wooden pegs on each Apple Planet in order to make a giant green worm burrow through each of the three planets.
Mario Sports Mix
Apples appear in Mario Sports Mix, in the basketball minigame called Feed Petey, and give the player thirty points if he/she shoots one of them in Petey Piranha's mouth.
