Donkey Kong exploring Jungle Japes in Donkey Kong 64.

Jungle Japes is the first level in the game Donkey Kong 64, and later reappeares as a stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

History

Donkey Kong 64

Since this is the first adventure stage of game, it's where the player learns to do many things including collecting bananas and transforming into Rambi the Rhinoceros. It is located in Donkey Kong Island, and requires one Golden Banana (found near the entrance itself) to enter. Diddy Kong is held captive here in a mountain prison.

Jungle Japes, as the name suggests, has many jungle areas, filled with climbable trees and collectables. There are many cliffs that the Kongs climb and even mine area on one of said cliffs. The jungle also has many gloomy tunnels full of swinging light bulbs and Gnawties. One of these caves leads to an area with a heavy storm where the Kongs slam switches to reveal bananas. The boss of this stage is Army Dillo.

Super Smash Bros. series

In Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it is set on a river, with three ledges made of wood, on which the players fight. There is a large platform, found in the center. This platform has another smaller platform above it, which players are able to jump on. There are also two smaller platforms on both sides, but because they are higher elevated, and they are separated by the rapid water current, it makes it dangerous to jump on. Klap Traps occasionally jump up to knock the players into the river. The music of the stage is the main level music from Donkey Kong Country. Also, on the main platform, there is a cabin in the background, and the player can see Cranky Kong's silhouette walking back and forth.
