History
Super Smash Bros. series
In Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee, eggs have made an appearance as an item. They can be thrown at opponents, or eaten for health.
Wario's Woods
In the SNES version of Wario's Woods, Creature Eggs are items that can be achieved whenever Toad performs a "breakfast" combo move in the vs. mode. The breakfast move is performed whenever Toad clears multiple rows/columns/diagonals of monsters at once with one bomb. At this point of time, a falling egg will appear on the side of Toad's opponent. Upon hitting the ground, this Creature Egg would hatch into any type of monster of varied colors. After the Creature Egg hatches, an additional row of monsters of one color will rain on his opponent. Whenever Toad performs a three way breakfast combo will send two eggs instead of one. While the eggs can be prevented from hatching, it is difficult to do so as it must be done by matching an entire row of monsters with the color of the egg.
Paper Mario
In Paper Mario, Eggs restore five HP, and are quite rare in the game. An Egg appears when checking the grass in the first area of Mt. Rugged where there is a train station, and it also appears by pulling a vine in Jade Jungle, in an area behind the Raven Statue. Eggs also appear in the kitchen of Peach's Castle and are used to make Strawberry Cake for Gourmet Guy. In this case, its item description reads: Newly laid eggs.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario replace the Egg with the Mystic Egg and Big Egg respectively, which serve the same purpose, although the Big Egg heals 12 HP rather than 5.

Mario Bros.
Eggs appear in the Game Boy Advance version of Mario Bros. included with Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and the Super Mario Advance series. They are a random item a player can find from within a garbage can. When thrown, it will break and reveal one of three items inside: a coin, Heart or Starman. Eggs in this appearance look like Birdo's Eggs in particular.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga / Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions
Eggs appear in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its remake as battle gimmicks of Birdo. Partnered with Popple, she may occasionally inhale him, and spit out multiple egg capsules in his stead. One contains Popple, the others contain pink Bob-omb-like enemies that dash through a random bro. The eggs break after some hits, releasing Popple, and allowing him to be attacked again.
Donkey Kong Country series
In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Squawks the Parrot can spit yellow eggs. By doing this, he can easily knock out enemies that are in his way.
Giant eggs can be found in the levels Krow's Nest and Kreepy Krow of Donkey Kong Country 2. Krow and Kreepy Krow drop these in an attempt to hit the Kongs. In the battle with Krow, some of the eggs can be picked up and thrown at the boss; this is the only way to defeat the giant vulture.
