Porcupals defend themselves from the Kongs with flames; once they get close to one Porcupal, its bristles spawn fire and turn darker and sharper. In this state, the Porcupal cannot receive any attack that involves physical contact from the Kongs; however, water sacks, barrels or any other throwable objects can put an end to it even when lit by fire. The Kongs can also ground pound near a Porcupal to extinguish it, which also stuns the enemy for a while. If the Porcupal does not get defeated while burning, its flames will eventually go out, and the Kongs finally have a chance to roll into or stomp onto the Porcupal to defeat it. Rambi the Rhino can also destroy Porcupals, but only once they put out their flames, as Rambi is vulnerable to fire or any other source of lighting, such as Blue Hootz.

Porcupals are only found in Bright Savannah, and they can be seen in natural disaster-themed levels like Frantic Fields or Scorch 'n' Torch. They can also be found in Rickety Rafters, as well as in Bramble Scramble. In Frantic Fields, some Porcupals are carried across the area by the wind, and must be avoided.

Porcupals[1] are short porcupine-like enemies in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port. They have long, pointed red bristles on their back (similar to Bristles enemy from Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!). Porcupals have long, turned-up snouts with small tusks and have a frowned face. Porcupals only appear in the Bright Savannah levels.

Like most enemies, Porcupals start out walking back and forth in an area. Upon noticing the Kongs, Porcupal's bristles go on fire and turn darker and sharper. In this state, Porcupals can only be defeated by water sacks, barrels or other throwable objects. A Porcupal's flames eventually die out, allowing the Kongs to defeat it by a Roll Attack or by stomping on it. Donkey Kong can Ground Pound near a Porcupal to stun it and, if burning, extinguish the fire on it. Rambi the Rhino can defeat a Porcupal when its flames are put out, though if Rambi gets hit by a Porcupal's fire, the Kongs lose him.

Porcupals appear in Frantic Fields, Scorch 'n' Torch, Rickety Rafters, and Bramble Scramble. In Frantic Fields, there are curled up, flaming Porcupals carried around by the wind; they cannot be defeated and must be avoided by the Kongs.
