The Spider is a giant one-eyed spider mini-boss in the area Fungi Forest in Donkey Kong 64. The Spider is fought by Tiny Kong. It attacks by sending smaller spiders toward Tiny and also by shooting webbing that either temporarily reverses the game's controls or freezes Tiny in place. Tiny can damage the Spider by hitting its eye with her feather bow when it opens it. After being hit multiple times the Spider will fall to the ground, shrink into a normal spider enemy and try to charge into Tiny. A few simple hits will destroy the shrunken Spider, after it is defeated a Golden Banana will appear before Tiny.
Trivia
- The Spider isn't as giant as it seems, as Tiny must use her Mini-Monkey technique to shrink down and enter it's lair.
- Although it is obvious that this creature is a spider, it only has six legs.
- The attacks the Spider uses, as well as the Spider's general appearance, could be based on the Donkey Kong Country 3 boss, Arich.
- Interestingly, when the spider spits web at Tiny, it has no way of knowing where she is (it's asleep for most of the fight).
