Bounty Basses are bulky red fish that appear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III. These aquatic enemies are found in few levels, such as Bazza's Blockade or Floodlit Fish. Like their airborne counterparts, the Booty Birds, Bounty Basses carry an item in their stomach, which explains their fatness. If the player manages to defeat one, using Enguarde the Swordfish's stab, the obese fish will make a shocked face and will give up their booty, before swimming away. Most of the time, Bounty Basses carry bananas or Bear Coins.

Most Bounty Basses barely move their fins, but some of them swim back and forth. Any which way, these fish are minor obstacles, and they can hardly be considered real enemies, except in the level Pot Hole Panic.

In Donkey Kong Land III, Bounty Basses almost never conceal any items.

Gleamin' Breams are similar in appearance to a Bounty Bass, with the difference of being yellow in color.

Trivia

  • According to the game's credits, Bounty Basses belong to the "Aquatic Attackers" enemy class.
