Dedede's the self-proclaimed king of Dream Land. While he says he's king, Dedede performs no administrative functions and the citizens of Dream Land continue to live as they always have. He's able to suck in air and fly like Kirby does, but only as a result of the vigorous training he undertook after being bested by Kirby.
Trivia
- In the original Super Smash Bros., in the Dream Land stage, Dedede would fly in the background of the stage, this could also be seen when Dream Land returned as a classic stage for Super Smash Bros. Melee.
- King Dedede appeared in the Kirby Segment in the educational video, Mario Kirby Masterpiece
- King Dedede also appears in the Nintendo Monopoly.
- One of King Dedede's plots in the animated series Kirby: Right Back at Ya! (to be more exact, in the episode "Un-Reality TV") is remarkably similar to Bowser's plot in the Super Mario World episode "Rock TV".
