Bees are of course, Bees. They first appeared in Donkey Kong 3, as enemies Donkey Kong would throw at Stanley. They also appeared in Yoshi's Story, where they would fly around their beehive, and won't let Yoshi pass. Yoshi had to walk slowly so he wouldn't bother the Bees.
Bees also appear in Super Mario Sunshine. Various beehives could be found in Bianco Hills, Gelato Beach, and Pianta Village. If Mario got too close to a beehive, or knocked one down, the bees would swarm him, causing damage if he gets stung. Yoshi could eat these bees for one Coin each.
