'''Poopmaarghs''' are a sub-species of [[Blargg]]s that first appeared in ''[[Super Mario Galaxy 2]]''. They appear as large creatures made of poop. They have a huge mouth that attacks by rising up from toilet pools and biting down at anything in front of them. Like their relatives, they seem to be mostly liquid, as they can pass through solid objects.

Mario, avoiding a Poopmaargh in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

They mostly appear in Muddy Monster Galaxy, being the titular monster. They also appear in Army Soar Galaxy and Bowser Jr.'s Universe Generator. Poopmaarghs do not move very much, mostly staying under the mud, arising to chomp down on anything in front of them. If Mario or Luigi gets chomped he loses one wedge of health and throws-up because of the horrible smell. In the Poopy Monster Galaxy, they appear mostly where there are Pull Stars. In Bowser Jr.'s Universe Generator, 6 of them appear during the Snake Block section. Here, the Snake Blocks split into 2 paths, where there are two Poopmaarghs per path and when the Snake Blocks come back together, one last one appears, where Mario (on Yoshi) must swallow a nearby Blimp Fruit to pass over the disgusting creature (or he needs to go out of the way onto one of the four platforms if he already lost it).

Super Mario 3D Universe

A Poopmaargh, in Super Mario 3D Universe.

Poopmaarghs later return as enemies in Super Mario 3D Universe, they only appear in World 9-Castle and Special 9-Castle, they appear in the toilet pools of Castle levels and will try to bite down when Mario passes by. In this game they are much smaller than in their first appearance. Even while the player is invincible, Poopmaarghs cannot be defeated. The cloud variation exists that follows Mario or Luigi in the clouds and pops out eventually. These are called Cloudmaarghs.

A Poopmaargh appears during the Iggy Koopa battle.

Poopmaarghs return in New Super Mario Bros. 3. They only appear in Iggy's Muddy Fortress, during the boss battle. Iggy can fire special blue magic beams with an Iggy design on them. First three beams appear, 2 blue, 1 purple; then when Iggy is hit he will fire 5 of them, 3 blue, 2 purple; and when Iggy Koopa is stomped twice, he manages to fire twice. When Iggy Koopa fires a brown magic beam at the mud, the Poopmaargh will emerge from it. The Poopmaargh then attacks by moving towards the players in a wave-like movement. Poopmaarghs, Cheep Beasts and Magmaws are the only enemies who can defeat Runny, a playable character in New Super Luigi 3.
