Screwtop Lifts[1][2] (also referred to as Screwtop Platforms)[3] are a type of lift found in the New Super Mario Bros. sub-series.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]
Screwtop Lifts, named for the screw mounted in their center, first appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, albeit in just one level, World 8-
Airship. Like certain platforms, these ones are mounted on tracks, though they do not travel on their own by default. If the player does a Spin Jump on the screw of the platform, they do not leap off, but instead spin in place, quickly moving the platform along its track as long as the player is spinning. When not moved by the player, the Screwtop Lift slowly returns to its original position. Similar screws are also seen mounted, not on platforms, but in the airship's floor, used to temporarily extend, retract, or otherwise reposition certain elements in the airship, mostly large metal blocks, but also the level's third Star Coin.
New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[edit]
Screwtop Lifts return with the same role and behavior in the New Super Mario Bros. U level Screwtop Tower, which features nine of them, as well as the 20th and final Time Attack challenge of the game, Screwtop It Up, which requires the player to beat Screwtop Tower (with the first section and the boss fight removed) in, at most, 90 (bronze), 75 (silver), or 65 (gold) seconds. Screwtop Lifts also appear in the New Super Luigi U level Sumo Bro's Spinning Tower (the game's equivalent of Screwtop Tower), which features five Screwtop Lifts, with the second having Fire Bars mounted on either end of its track, and the third possessing Fire Bars on the middle and upper end of its track.
