The first appearance of a parrot was in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas". The parrot belonged to Prince Hugo and was named Prince Hugo's Parrot.

Wario's Woods

In the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version of Wario's Woods, Toad fights one parrot boss named Parrator. Parrator is the sixth boss that Toad faces. However, Parrator appears to be a parrot, he also seems to be a monitor lizard.

In Donkey Kong Country, a green parrot with red and yellow feathers, named Squawks, appears as an Animal Buddy. In this game, Squawks is only able to guide Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong through dark areas with a flashlight. In later games, Squawks is playable.
