“Is that all?”
Zero Suit Samus, Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Zero Suit Samus is an alternate form of Samus; she is released from her Power Suit by using her Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. She can also be selected at the start of a match by pressing a shield button on the character selection screen. During battle, Samus can become Zero Suit Samus any time by quickly performing the Taunts ↑↓↑.

Samus, after using the Zero Laser.

When Samus finishes her Final Smash, the Zero Laser, the force of the beam is so strong it causes the Power Suit to fall off, which was seen in the E3 Trailer. Once this happens, she is left only in her Zero Suit. Players can pick up and throw the pieces of her armor, which now act similarly to items. Zero Suit Samus is more swift and agile than her armored form, though, lighter and easier to KO. She can now also use a gun that transforms into an energy whip. Her whip also has a similar function as Link's Hookshot.

The Subspace Emissary

Samus first appears in the Subspace Emissary in her Zero Suit, infiltrating the Research Facility to retrieve her stolen Power Suit. Along the way, she finds Pikachu trapped in a power generator and frees it. Eventually, Samus tracks her Power Suit down, but was stopped by evil copies of it. She defeats them and retrieves her suit. She spends the subseqent movies she appears in, wearing standard form. When Samus is selected on the World Map, she can still be turned into Zero Suit Samus by pressing the C button on the Nunchuck or similar buttons mapped to grabbing in other control layouts.

Special Moves

Paralyzer

Paralyzer
Zero Suit Samus's Paralyzer.

Paralyzer is a Special Move that is used by Zero Suit Samus in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When used, Samus will fire an electric ray from her gun, which will paralyze players who get hit. When this happens, the opponent will be stunned in one spot, allowing Zero Suit Samus to attack or run away. It can also be used to stop an opponents attack. If Zero Suit Samus charges the gun a bit more, the opponent will be stunned longer. If the player does a down smash with this move, she will fire at the opponents feet. Paralyzer is also used by Kirby if he has copied Zero Suit Samus' power.

Plasma Whip

Plasma Whip
Zero Suit Samus's Plasma Whip.

Plasma Whip is Zero Suit Samus's Side Special move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When Zero Suit Samus uses the whip, she shoot a plasma whip from her Gun. This move goes very far, and it is assumed she can keep it out for a while, damaging players who hit the whip. This can be compared with Sheik's Chain move. The tip of the whip is the strongest part of the whip, and thus, causes more damage.

Plasma Wire

Plasma Wire
Zero Suit Samus's Plasma Wire.

Plasma Wire is the name of Zero Suit Samus's Up special move, which she will use in the upcoming Wii title, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When she uses it, using her gun, she will fire a plasma beam in any direction she is facing, which will continue to grab a player who the whip hits. This is similar to Link and Young Link's Hookshot. She can also use this as a Tether Recovery move. When it clings on to a part of the stage, she can retract the whip, bringing her back to the stage safely. It has a very large range, so is more useful than the Hookshot. The move can damage anyone that gets caught in the whip.

Flip Jump

Zero Suit Samus's Flip Jump.

Flip Jump is Zero Suit Samus's Down Special Move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Zero Suit Samus flashes as she does a flip and an arching jump through the air. This provides some horizontal and vertical recovery. It functions as Zero Suit Samus's Third Jump, but does not put Zero-Suit Samus into Helpless, allowing her to use her tether recovery in addition, which makes up for its relatively short length compared to other third jumps. She cannot perform the Flip Jump again until she lands or is hit.

If Zero Suit Samus hits a wall while performing the Flip Jump, she will automatically perform a Wall Jump. This does not count as the one Wall Jump Zero Suit Samus can perform without landing. She will automatically do up to 4 wall jumps if she continues to contact them soon enough, mostly in custom stages.

If the player inputs a standard attack, special, or grab (A, B, or Z on the Gamecube controller) while Zero Suit Samus is flashing, she will stick out her foot at a 45 degree angle, performing a kick. Anyone hit by this kick will be sent downwards in a moderate-power meteor smash.

If the player attempts to jump while Samus is still flashing, and she is just above a character or item, she will do a special spinning jump that can move great distances horizontally.

Power Suit Samus

Power Suit Samus is the Final Smash of Zero Suit Samus, in the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. After Zero Suit Samus gets the Smash Ball and uses it, an energy whirl appears around her, which causes damage to opponents that touch her. Zero Suit Samus then reappears from the flash in her Power Suit as normal Samus. This Final Smash doesn't do anything else, therefore it is one of the very few non-attacking Final Smashes. It can possibly KO players if they are close enough to Zero Suit Samus when she uses the attack, however.

Solid Snake Codec Conversation

  • Snake: Mei Ling, Samus took her clothes off!
  • Mei Ling: That's just her in the Zero Suit, Snake.
  • Snake: Without that bulky Power Suit, she's gotten a lot more agile... You know, I bet if I took off all this heavy gear, I could catch her.
  • Mei Ling: Um, yeah, you wish. Even without the Power Suit, all that training she did with the Chozo has made her a super athlete. I don't think a normal human could ever keep up. Just look at her.
  • Snake: ...Her loss.

Wii Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Samus Aran without her mighty Power Suit. In this condition, she does not have the firepower she's famed for but is in full possession of the agility and athleticism she gained through her childhood training with the Chozo. Without the armor, she's also much, much faster. The weapon she carries is a self-protection device known as a Paralyzer that stops enemies cold.
54 Power Suit Samus (Zero Suit Samus) Wii Super Smash Bros. Brawl Zero Suit Samus's Final Smash. Samus loses her Power Suit when she fires the Zero Laser, but she can restore it--that is, she can return from her Zero Suit form to her familiar armored form. That being said, Zero Suit Samus is very quick with great reach, so there are tactical reasons to fight as is. If that's your preference, don't pick up any Smash Balls.

Trivia

  • Zero Suit Samus, Falco, and Peach are the only characters to speak during all of their taunts; though she says her down taunt in a soft tone so it is hard to hear; she says "You're mine".
  • Along with Sonic, Sheik and Squirtle, Zero Suit Samus is one of the few characters not to be seen as a trophy because of her being normal Samus at the time.
