The Star Spirits are a group of seven powerful stars that first appear in Paper Mario. Consisting of Eldstar (whose name is a pun on "elder"), Mamar (whose name is a pun on "mama"), Skolar (whose name is a pun on "scholar"), Muskular (whose name is a pun of "muscular"), Misstar (whose name is a pun on "mistress"), Klevar (whose name is a pun on "clever"), and Kalmar (whose name is a pun on "calm"), the Star Spirits are led by Eldstar.
They are seven of the few original Paper Mario series characters to reappear in other Super Mario games, along with Whacka, Tweesters, Koopatrols, and Goomboss.
History
Paper Mario
In Paper Mario, the Star Spirits are being held captive by Bowser's followers after he and Kammy Koopa stole their precious Star Rod and turned them into playing cards, in retaliation for their ignoring Bowser's selfish wishes.
After Mario and his new friends rescue all of them, they give him a special power called Star Beam, which is used to neutralize the effects of the Star Rod, and a ship that they can use to travel to Bowser's Castle. During the final battle with Bowser, due to the effects of Bowser's Power Platform, their Star Beam does not work against him, triggering a side battle with Princess Peach and Twink against Kammy Koopa. After Peach and Twink have defeated Kammy, the Star Beam is upgraded to Peach Beam, giving Mario a second chance at a victory against Bowser and to recover the Star Rod.
The following list of Star Spirits are as follows:
