Proposal[edit]

Hello, your proposal creation actually breaks rule 2 on the MarioWiki:Proposals page as you are not yet autoconfirmed. Though if you're able to make seven more edits (10 in total is required to be autoconfirmed; you've made three so far and your account is already over a week old) then we can allow your proposal to be valid. Oh shoot, I'm so sorry! I assumed that being autoconfirmed was just something that happened... well, automatically. I'll try to contribute some other stuff, thanks for the heads-up. DrippingYellow (talk) 22:21, September 27, 2023 (EDT)

"Unnecessary cutesy name. The subject origin is a frog anyways."[edit]

Not arguing that the previous name was better or anything--just wanna point out it was a reference to Bopping Toady, an enemy in the Super Mario Land series, which Wario Land spun off of. Not a Yoshi's Island Toady. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 19:27, December 15, 2023 (EST)

Ah, I guess that makes a little bit of sense... DrippingYellow (talk) 19:39, December 15, 2023 (EST)
Also, I want to point out that a "horned toad"/"horny toad" is a real thing. Though they're actually robust-bodied lizards. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:17, December 15, 2023 (EST)

Picking up proposals[edit]

If you don't mind, could I work on enacting the proposals for the MPDS boss items and the Aldegara Waterfall? I wanted to know if you intended on implementing them yourself before I go ahead. Power Flotzo (talk) 17:33, January 5, 2024 (EST)

Sure, I don't mind. I've been kind of occupied with other matters lately, so I'd appreciate the help. DrippingYellow (talk) 21:11, January 5, 2024 (EST)

Hi[edit]

Relatives proposal[edit]

On the subject of the DKC enemies, I want to point out the non-Krem enemy counterparts that are hardly related to each other, but were definitely inspired by each other behaviorally, such as Gnawty->Neek->Sneek and Necky->Hogwash the Flying Pig->Flitter. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:52, April 27, 2024 (EDT)

I'm aware, though by the time you sent that message I had already removed most specific examples from my proposal draft, including the DKC enemy mentions. Even if the proposal passes, I don't really see the counterparts that are obviously different animals being lumped in as relatives. The Neeks and Sneeks are probably the exception in that regard, though (I might even go as far as to call Sneeks a variation of Neeks, with how similar both enemies are in appearance and behavior).
While we're on the topic of these enemies, though, I'm not really a fan of how "subject origin" is used as a shorthand for "serves as a replacement for in terms of its role". It makes it sound like the developers at Rare had a certain type of vultures on their mind when creating the dragonfly enemy. The most egregious instance of this is Knik-Knak, who has three enemies as its subject origin (even removing Necky, who was already succeeded by Flitter before then, that's still two disparate origins). I feel like we shouldn't just be assuming that Knik-Knak was specifically designed by the developers as a Click-Clack and Flitter specifically fused together.
