Cranky Kong is Donkey Kong's father and supposedly the original Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong the arcade game.
In future years he would become older, wiser, and, well, crankier. he made a small cameo in Super Smash Bros. Melee on the course, Jungle Japes, his shadow is seen walking around behind the certain in the window of the cabin there.
