Template:Articleabout Template:Species-infobox Montys[1] are enemies that appear in Super Mario Galaxy in Battlerock Galaxy, Gusty Garden Galaxy, and Dreadnought Galaxy. They are moles that wear blue, striped bandanas and wield wrenches as their method of attack, which makes them analogous to both Monty Moles and Rocky Wrenches.
However, while Montys are mammals like Monty Moles and have a name that is very similar to theirs, they differ from them and the reptilian Rocky Wrenches in two noticeable ways: Montys are noticeably bigger and much more defensive. While Monty Moles erupt from the ground and immediately chase after Mario and Rocky Wrenches remain exposed for a longer period of time upon attacking with their wrenches, Montys will instead retreat into the ground if the player approaches them and then re-emerge to attack after the player moves away from them. As such, the player must either shoot a Star Bit at a Monty while it is not hidden in the ground, or perform a Ground Pound nearby to make the Monty erupt from their space in order to render it susceptible to being attacked.
