Template:Levelbox World 2-3 is the third level of New Super Mario Bros. Wii's World 2. This level is a pitch dark cave, which is dimly lit by lanterns, Fire Bros. Fire Snakes, Fire Piranha Plants, and fireballs.

Layout

The level starts in a desert setting above ground. The only enemy here is a Spiny, and the Question Block contains a Fire Flower. The Warp Pipe takes Mario to the next portion of the level. As the Mario advances, fireballs float toward him; these illuminate the path but can hurt him if he touches them, and they continue to appear throughout the level. After the first Warp Pipe underground, there are three more, each higher up than the last, containing Fire Piranha Plants.

After this, there is a Warp Pipe leading to a bonus section with a Roulette Block and two Spike Tops; the exit pipe leads to the one adjacent to the entrance pipe. Afterward, there is a platform with another pipe containing a Fire Piranha Plant inside a pit; following this is two more platforms with two more Fire Piranha Plants. Across a hill, there is a vertically scrolling platform, and following this is an area with two stacks of platforms, as well as three Fire Snakes; above, there is a Warp Pipe leading to a bonus area with several Spike Tops on Brick Blocks and a P-Switch near the top.

Below, before the next area, there is a Question Block containing a Star, as well as a path that Mini Mario can traverse. The next area itself has two stacks of platforms and two more Fire Snakes on the first one; above, there is another path of platforms, followed by an area with the Midway Flag.

Immediately following this are two horizontally scrolling platforms leading to the other side of a chasm, with one Fire Piranha Plant on a ledge below on the first section and two for the second, and the next area has a Fire Bro. After this, there is a Fire Piranha Plant on an area on the ceiling, as well as two Piranha Flowers underneath two vertically scrolling platforms. Before the end, there are two more Fire Piranha Plants on a top ledge, and beyond the Warp Pipe is another area containing a Star Coin. The area outside has a staircase platform with a Koopa Troopa on it before the Flagpole.

Star Coins

  • Star Coin 1: The first Star Coin is at the bottom of the fort of yellow blocks, guarded by two Fire Snakes.
  • Star Coin 2: To the left of the first Fire Bro is an opening in the ground, which the second Star Coin is resting in. Mario and co. should run to it while dodging the Fire Bro's attacks.
  • Star Coin 3: At the end of the level, instead of going down the hill with the Coins, Mario and co. should jump up to the small midair platform, then to the roof of the platform which the Fire Piranha Plants rest on, then run to the third Star Coin which is surrounded by several other Coins.
