Hongo in Yoshi's Universal Gravitation.

Hongo is a character from Game Boy Advance's Yoshi's Universal Gravitation. He is the great spirit in control of the Forbidden Pop-Up Book.

History

When Bowser starts wreaking havoc on Yoshi’s Island in Yoshi's Universal Gravitation, Hongo traps the entire island within the pages of his pop-up storybook. While Hongo only intends to get rid of Bowser, he traps everyone and everything on Yoshi's Island within the pages of this magic, forbidden book. But being the headstrong Spirit Chief he is, he refuses to free the Island from its papery prison because that would free Bowser too - which he just won't have. Only by locking Bowser away elsewhere can Yoshi convince Hongo to release the rest of the island, so Yoshi sets out to progress through the chapters of the book. To aid Yoshi in his quest, Hongo provides the Universal Gravitation Device, which allows Yoshi to manipulate his environment. When Yoshi defeats Bowser, he throws him a party, and then restores Yoshi's Island back to its normal form.

Personality

Not much is known about Hongo, except that he is quick-tempered and very powerful; he doesn't tolerate his Spirit underlings being anything but serious. He shows that he can be forgiving when he allows a banished Spirit, the Spirit Who Loves Surprises back into his council.

It is unknown if the Spirits have a higher leader than Hongo.

Appearance

Hongo has a purple torso and head, and a white, comb mustache with thick, white eyebrows over beady black eyes. He wears green pants over his wispy tail, and they are held up by a red belt. He has a red book on his head, making it sure that he is the controller of the Forbidden Pop-Up Book.
