..How does Ztar relate at all to Czar?  Because there's a Z in both?
I'd think it more likely that the Z is just there because it looks like a backwards S. ~ [[User:Joshi|Joshi]] 07:01, 2 July 2011 (EDT)

I was just wondering where the name Ztar is mentioned in a Mario Party game? Or is it another source? --son.of.suns@gmail.com 14:10, 29 April 2006 (EDT)

Well, in Mario Party 5 there is at least a "Ztar Engine". Ztar is also named Ztar in the extra room. And I'm pretty sure Bowser names them that too. But, they're not named Ztars anymore. I'll add that fact to the article. --General Guy 08:45, 7 August 2006 (EDT)
I liked the name "Ztar" better than "Shadow Star". It just sounds cooler. I continue to call them Ztars to this day. Monty Mole 16:46, 13 August 2006 (EDT)
ShadowZtar is cooler, I think. Tadaa!2.gifPlumberTadaaa!.gif
I call them Z-Stars. Also, these are called Dark Stars in Mario Party 7. So I'll move it to Dark Star.

Ztar was used most. Max2 (talk)

It was called Ztar in Mario Party DS, as a figure, move it back to Ztar (Because MPDS was after MP8). Sprite of a Bob-omb from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars Bob-omb buddy Sprite of a Bob-omb from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

My theory

I have theorized that Ztars (at least the ones used in MP5, MP6, MP7, MPDS, and SMRPG) are actually made of a substance that resembles that which a star is made up of, but with a strange property. The Ztar material will combine with the star material and neutralize it in a strange chemical reaction (not unlike that of matter and antimatter's supposed annihilation when combined), also firing off other substances attached to either. (This is not an issue in the Mario Party series, because those stars are pure, as are the Ztars involved. The coin Ztar has been re-engineered so that the reaction will instead occur with whatever it is that Coins are made of, and the matter and energy equals out to about 20 coins. Any energy not lost, like if the player had less than 20 coins, goes away to help form a new Ztar, making combo variants possible, but unlikely, as there can not be a Ztar that takes away half of a star.)The seven star pieces, however, are much more powerful than that, with almost limitless energy/material/etc. The "Dark Star" attack would 'summon' a special Ztar variant, which has added bulk and size due to large amounts of matter and energy impurities within.(These impurities also account for it's dark-grey with black eyes color scheme) Thusly, when it combined with an equal amount of Star energy from 1 of the 7 stars, it would neutralize that energy as well as it's Ztar energy, and the impurities would then damage Mario and party. Or it might just land on them ;) In older MP games where they didn't take away a star, the Ztars were likely just being used by Bowser for their similar energy signature that alerts whoever the host is where the star or Ztar is located. Bowser recalled these Ztars before they could neutralize anything, as they were just too valuable at the moment and had already served their purpose. (As an alternative, it has been mentioned above that it resembles the antimatter reaction, so Ztars may just be antimatter stars, though it raises questions because some theories say that antimatter will neutralize any matter, though others claim it only annihilates it's matter equivalent.) Anyways, that's my theory.

Interesting, although there's one major flaw: it's speculation, so it won't be placed into the article, so if you want to theorize about the Mario series, go to the forum. Hello, I'm Time Turner.

I wasnt asking anyone to put it in the article. I just wanted to be able to say it. I cant do much with forums because the dates often dont display on my CPU, so i get in huge trouble for necroposting. YourBuddyBill (talk)
