The Game Boy Color is the successor to the Game Boy and the Game Boy Pocket, and the handheld counterpart of the Nintendo 64. It was similar to its predecessors, the most notable differences was that it was lighter and capable of displaying multiple colors.

Some games made for different portable gaming systems displayed more colors if played on a Game Boy Color. Other games were made exclusively for the Game Boy Color. The older versions couldn't play these, but the Game Boy Advance could. They were discontinued in 2002.
