Ztars (also known as Dark Stars, previously also Shadow Stars) are black counterparts to stars found mostly within the Mario Party series. Instead of granting the player a star, it takes away one in the player's possession.
Ztars first appears Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars when the special attack Dark Star is used. They later appeared in Mario Party, where a Ztar is the Bowser Bogus item for Mario's Rainbow Castle. In this game, it does not count as a negative star.
