World 9-7 is the seventh level of World 9 in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It is unlocked by collecting all of the Star Coins in World 7. This course features the background and jungle theme from World 5, but is also snowy, like levels from World 3. Like all levels in World 9, there is no midway point. Elements featured in this level include Ice Blocks containing Munchers and coins, Venus Fire Traps, and Fire Brothers, all of which originate from Super Mario Bros. 3. It is the only level in the game to feature Munchers and Prickly Goombas.
Layout[edit]
This level takes place in a snowy forest. At the beginning of the level, Mario and co. must progress by jumping over Warp Pipes and small hills. Venus Fire Traps, Munchers (which are encased in ice and become active when thawed) and Prickly Goombas try to defeat Mario and co. while they are progressing. Mario and co. then reach an area with a large number of Venus Fire Traps blocking his way and thawing the Frozen Coins with their fireballs. Finally, Mario and co. find two Fire Brothers thawing Frozen Coins with their fireballs. Past the Fire Brothers, Mario and co. must jump over a pit to reach the pole.
Star Coins[edit]
- Star Coin 1: Near the beginning of the level, the first Star Coin is floating above two Frozen Coins. Mario and co. must jump up and get it before the Frozen Coins are thawed out by the Venus Fire Traps, or wall kick from the nearby pipe if the ice has been melted.
- Star Coin 2: The second Star Coin is floating under the long row of Frozen Coins above a smaller row of Frozen Coins. To access it, Mario and co. must either wait for the nearby Venus Fire Traps or use a Fire Flower which can be found in the level to thaw out enough of the Frozen Coins.
- Star Coin 3: The third Star Coin is surrounded by three rows of Frozen Coins; one horizontal and two vertical. After the nearby Fire Brothers thaw out enough of the Frozen Coins on the horizontal row, Mario and co. should fall to the Star Coin, then use the two vertical rows to wall kick back to safety.
