Well, like they say in Brooklyn, early to bed, early to catch the worm! Or...is it the bagel?

What's up!! I'm Ruby, but I've also gone by Joe across the internet. I've been lurking around this wiki without an account for years now, and I've grown a fond appreciation for it as pretty much the #1 public database for my favorite... well, thing of all time. I've put this page together to help learn how to write articles and use all the formatting options the wiki has to offer. I'll be around, editing pages that I see need fixing, and if I feel confident enough, I'll try and work on some spotlighted articles.

I know who's here, too!

History

Luigi
Pictured: My favorite.

It all started when I was born.

Kidding, kidding--it all started when I was a very young child. My birth was recent at the time. But my first game ever was New Super Mario Bros. Wii! A classic in my eyes. According to my dad, we went through the whole game and completed it, but I don't see any darn complete save file! He's probably thinking of our New Super Mario Bros. U playthrough. Oh, those were the days... That first game got me hooked on Mario. For the first few years of my life, I'd play on the Wii a ton. Mario Kart Wii was another fun game I played a lot, and having nothing but the Wii, a PlayStation 3 where all I'd play was Skylanders, and eventually a Wii U solidified my status as a Mario fanboy. (Fanboy in the gender-neutral sense now, but I digress.)

"Oh, another blind fan that loves everything Nintendo puts out," you must be thinking. That is almost entirely true. I have other favorite games! And I'm proud to have a Mario game I absolutely loathe. However, I do have a large bias towards this silly Italian plumber...

Favorite Mario Characters

# Character Why do I love them?
1 Luigi with a Cap Glider Luigi He's perfect. I love him. His jumpiness is also relatable to me, and I applaud him for his feats of bravery.
2 Artwork of Blue Toad from Super Mario Bros. Wonder Blue Toad AKA Bucken-Berry, my favorite playable Toad (out of 3)! Yellow over blue, always. I will never forgive NSMBU Deluxe for basically hiding him in the game. AND you can’t play as the two Toads at the same time! For shame, Nintendo! FOR SHAME!
3 One of Dry Bones's award animations from Mario Kart Wii Dry Bones Infinitely cooler pick in spin-offs than Koopa Troopa will ever be. They’re so silly, too. I love skeletons.
4 Wario poses in Wario World. Wario At his best in the Wario Land series! The perfect Mario opposite and just a really cool treasure hunter. He embodies that spark of greed that everyone has, whether it be small or big.

Nintendo console collection

A indicates that the console is one of my favorites!

# Console (order of obtainment) Review # Console (order of obtainment) Review
1 The Wii. Wii It's perfect. I love it. The Wii was my first ever console, and it holds a lot of memories for me. Also features my favorite game of all time! Truly my favorite home console ever. Homebrewing opens up a new world of possibilities, too, and I can experience the Wii the way it was intended with service revivals! 2 Wii U Wii U Honestly a really charming console despite its horrid failure. Had some good games!... that were almost all ported to the Switch. I mean, it's justifiable--the console failed. Bad. But where's Wooly World? Who knows! My favorite game on that system has to be Super Mario Maker, excluding everything that's been ported.
3 Black 3DS XL.jpg Nintendo 3DS XL My favorite handheld console of all time! I got a red 3DS XL a loooong time ago, but I still have it and it works! Some of my favorites are on that system, one of which being Pokémon Omega Ruby! 4 A New Nintendo 3DS XL in Metallic Black New Nintendo 3DS XL My favorite handheld just gets better! It's more powerful, so it's my main system and the one I homebrew. I got a Metallic Black version, but I do wish I had a themed one like the Zelda system, or maybe one of the Japan-exclusive skins. There's also an orange one exclusive to Japan. I so wish I had that. My favorite Mario game on the system is probably Mario Kart 7.
5 Game-Boy-Advance-SP-Mk1-Blue.jpg Game Boy Advance SP I don't own it, but I remember playing it at my grandmother's house. Dunno where it is now, but I've got a DS so all is well. I've never really played much games on this one--there aren't too many lying around, and my dad's old GBA is lost to time... My favorite game on there is probably Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. I'm a big fan of Mario 3. Gotta get around to beating it... 6 Dandelion Game Boy Color Game Boy Color I've got this old thing on my lap as I'm writing! It belonged to my aunt, but I got to keep it. I fondly remember playing games like Mario Land 2 and SMB Deluxe, and I still do to this day! This old thing never really lost its charm for me. Favorite game is easily SMB Deluxe.
7 Game Boy Game Boy This one belonged to my mother! I don't use it all too much, mainly since, well, the glue on the front screen plate decided to stop working. I'm too afraid to fix it myself, but I'm not sure whether to visit someone or not. I went pretty far in Kirby's Dream Land one night, but game-overed at Dedede. That was... a bit infuriating, to say the least. But, my favorite game has to be Mario Land 2. 8 NES Classic Edition NES Classic Edition I was never too attached to this thing... it's very novel to have a collection of NES games, though, and it was my first experience with some of them! I have Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition for my Wii, so the Super Mario games weren't necessarily new to me. Nonetheless, my favorite on this mini console would be Super Mario Bros. 3!
9 Hand holding small SNES as scale SNES Classic Edition Not much attachment to this one either, but there's certainly a good library of games on there. My favorite is probably Kirby Super Star, but my favorite Mario game on the system has to be Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. 10 Hardware of the Nintendo Switch Nintendo Switch My family's got a whopping 5 of these things! One's an OLED model, and the other's a Lite that belongs to my sibling. The Switch has got an incredible library, and while the games are far from my absolute favorites, it's always a joy to play them all. My favorite on this system is Super Mario Odyssey, but I think Super Mario Bros. Wonder might shape up to be my new favorite!
11 Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. A novel little handheld that is simple and to the point: Game & Watch that you can play Mario on. I wish it had more games, especially since the later Zelda version had a few more. Would've loved to see the rest of the NES games as well as the Game Boy titles! 12 The original Nintendo DS, in a silver color Nintendo DS Quite the novel handheld in my opinion, but definitely not as good as the 3DS. The shell is apparently very fragile, so I've replaced it with a red one, and it looks nice, aside from it not being particularly official, but that isn't a huge problem. The Game Boy Advance compatibility is what lets me play that library, though! I haven't dived too deep into the library of games, but my favorite would probably be New Super Mario Bros..
13 A black DS Lite.Nintendo DS Lite A very sleek and fancy revision of the original DS. While the first model may have its charm, the Lite improves upon almost every problem the original design had, making it comfortable to hold and similar to its successor. My only problem? The GBA cartridge sticks out! Bummer. 14 The NES model 1. Nintendo Entertainment System I recently found my mother's old NES in our basement! This old system may be obsolete with practically its entire notable library being brought to modern systems, but man if this thing isn't magical to play. I enjoy experiencing games on their original hardware, if I can, just to capture what it was really like to play said game on its intended system. My favorite game on this console is Super Mario Bros. 3! Gotta get around to beating it...
15 Black Nintendo GameCube with controller Nintendo GameCube I haven't experienced too many GameCube games on the console itself, as my console's disc reader won't function, but I've played working ones and its games on the Wii. I love how Nintendo took a huge turn with how Mario games were handled in terms of their overall vibes--Super Mario Sunshine is still unlike any Mario game to this day, and the same goes for Mario Kart: Double Dash!! My personal favorite game, and the one I'm playing through right now, is Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It's the first Paper Mario game with real role-playing mechanics I've delved into other than Super Paper Mario, and already it's proved itself to be an absolute classic. 16 We're all caught up! :)
