Stronghold Showdown is the last level of K. Rool's Keep in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. It is a straight path inside a castle with no enemies. There are two hidden Banana Coins and a hidden Red Balloon that Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong can reach by performing a team up throw. By continuing forward, the Kongs find Donkey Kong tied up in the middle of the room. When they approach Donkey Kong, Diddy and Dixie are rewarded a Kremkoin, and the lead Kong performs their victory dance. During this, Donkey Kong is pulled up and carried out of the area. This shocks the Kongs, who immediately run out the other side to follow Kaptain K. Rool, who pulls Donkey Kong up to his airship, the Flying Krock. In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, the "Krook's March" theme plays if Stronghold Showdown is revisited.
Stronghold Showdown is the last level of K. Rool's Keep in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. It is a straight path with no enemies, though the first visit gives the Kongs a free Kremkoin, alongside the typical hidden pair of Banana Coins in each boss level. The first visit briefly shows Donkey Kong, tied up in rope in the middle of the room, before he is taken to King K. Rool's airship, to Diddy and Dixie's shock. The duo then chases him to the Flying Krock, the last world of the game. In the original Donkey Kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Land 2, this level can be used as a free trip out of the world without paying Funky's Flights II to get out. When revisited, it plays the "Krook's March" music, like the castle levels.

In the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 2, Stronghold Showdown takes place on the roof of the castle, where the Kongs fight the exclusive boss, Kerozene. Kerozene attacks Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong with weakened Kleevers and a fire breath attack. In the first round, Diddy and Dixie must simply throw kannonballs at the Kleevers. Then, they must grab the kannonballs on the ground, avoid the flames the huge creature spits at them and then throw the kannonball at Kerozene's head. Kerozene will breathe fire in three different directions. His gigantic fists sometimes smash against the ground, stunning them momentarily. For his final attack, Kerozene shoots a fireball that sets the ground on fire. One Kong must grab the kannonball, jump on his hands before the ground bursts into flame, and throw it at his head to defeat him. After his defeat, he will fall with smoke coming from his mouth.

In the Game Boy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country 2, the level instead takes place on the castle roof, where the new boss Kerozene must be fought to earn the originally-free Kremkoin.
