Luigi's Engine Room is Luigi's board in Mario Party. Players needed to collect stars to power up the engine in the middle of the room (but was actually in the back of the board). The main feature was the red and blue doors. One set would rise up to block specific paths while the other set goes down to open other paths. The doors switch at the start of every turn, when players land on certain Happening Spaces, or if a robot on the board was paid 20 coins to switch them. ? spaces near the engine made steam rise up, taking players to a higher section. Players that went to Bowser would see his "Make As Many Coins As You Want Mecha" in action. They would get a coin from Bowser, at the cost of 20 coins. No matter where the players went, all paths led to a pipe that took them to Boo, who was near the start.

At the end of the game, the winner's stars form into a large star that goes over to the engine and powers it up. Then, the outside is revealed to show that the board was in a flying wooden airship (as seen in Rainbow Ride in Super Mario 64 and later Rainbow Cruise in Super Smash Bros. Melee), with the winner standing at the front of the ship. The players in 2nd and 3rd place, Toad, Koopa, Boo, and the Star accompany him/her, while the player in 4th place stays in the engine room getting burnt by the steam generators while Bowser laughs at his/her torture.
