Revision as of 15:41, July 4, 2017

I am usually around 1PM-4AM CST (6PM-9AM GMT).

I usually reply on the users' talk pages if you don't see my replies on my talk page. If it looks like I don't respond, I do, just in a different spot.

I have decided that archival will happen after every 100th talk section sees a resolution.

Check mark.svg Shouldn't archive (page should contain more than 100,000 characters, which this page has 44,981 at this time).

Thanks

Hey thanks for cropping that Bubbles pic for me, the table looks a lot better now! DKPetey99DKPetey99TCE

Yeah thanks for the tip. I'm trying to make the DK: King of Swing article more presentable so I will keep that tool in mind. DKPetey99DKPetey99TCE

Favor

I have sprites I am willing to upload from DK: King of Swing, but the background is purple. Are you able to recolor them if I upload or send them to you? DKPetey99DKPetey99TCE

Alright cool. I think the size might be messed up as well but I think someone with more skill image-wise than me can fix it. DKPetey99DKPetey99TCE
Yes I'm really not that technologically skilled to do that stuff. Sorry. DKPetey99DKPetey99TCE

Shiny sprites

Maybe you'd like to find some better sprites?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 18:41, 10 December 2016 (EST)

I just found the texture from sticker star that makes the sprites shiny.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 19:33, 10 December 2016 (EST)
Alrighty.
The Paper sprites are getting deleted, which I expected. Is there anyway you can get some native resolution png screenshots from Paper Jam of the paper enemies, for cropping? Like maybe using the Citra emulator, or through homebrew HANS or whatvere. I barely understand any of that.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 09:45, 13 December 2016 (EST)

Re: Deleting bestiary leftovers

Look, I want to incorporate the enemy idle animations back into the Bestiaries, not on the page itself, but when transcluded the gifs show up in the enemy box. However, I can't very well do that if you're going to delete all the gifs.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 23:30, 10 December 2016 (EST)

I've already added the Paper Jam gifs. Speaking of which, I might need to whip up a new proposal soon, one that will allow modification of images in order to give an accurate portrayal, ie adding the white outline to the sticker star sprites and uploading them under paper jam.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 00:51, 11 December 2016 (EST)
Just please, take a step back on the gifs that belong to RPGs. They aren't leftovers.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 01:14, 11 December 2016 (EST)
Actually, I'm only concerned with the RPGs.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 01:54, 11 December 2016 (EST)

Re: Images and Categories

Hi! I am so sorry for not filling the spaces! I actually knew what I was doing for the {{aboutfile}} template: I actually just filled it on the 1st frame image and the rest I left incomplete since I thought only filling the first frame would be enough, as the other images are just a sequence...

I left the categories empty because we didn't have a category page for those, again, sorry!!! If you are willing to create those category pages, I tramslated the titles of the comics: The Halloween one is "Ashley meets Halloween" (or maybe Ashley's Halloween meeting, I am not the best in japanese, sorry) and the 2nd, the Barbara one is merely called "Barbara and Ashley"

Thank you so much for warning me!User:Ashley anEoTselkie/sig

Thanks for the help! I will be sure to add the content about the comic to the pages! I will just need time to translate the Barabra one since this one has actual vlines -w- User:Ashley anEoTselkie/sig

Homebrew

Ok, I might do the Homebrew. I have a New 3DS XL, up to date, and my copy of Paper Jam is digital. Will this mess up my system, revoke my Nintendo Network account, is it reversible?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:28, 13 December 2016 (EST)

I remember seeing a homebrew thing that lets you make custom 3DS themes. Can I still do that with 3DSX? And will using the exploits in compatible games ruin the game?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 19:47, 13 December 2016 (EST)
I think only the smashbroshax will work for me, but it sounds risky since it can affect other smash players. Is the exploit, or exploits, a one time only thing or what?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 20:07, 13 December 2016 (EST)
I think I may need to find myself a copy of Freakyforms Deluxe because the smashbrosax sounds way too complicated for me to comprehend.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 20:39, 13 December 2016 (EST)
Okay, I did the freakyhax and got to the homebrew menu. I went to the theme manager and scanned for themes. It stayed there awhile and I couldn't exit so I closed the system. The screen was black and I couldn't do anything so I turned it off and back on. now when I do the exploit, it partially loads, but it stay on the black screen that says the homemenu ropbin is ready.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 20:53, 14 December 2016 (EST)
Guess it takes a few tries. However when I try booting paper jam up in hans, the bottom screen goes red and the top goes black.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 21:19, 14 December 2016 (EST)
What's NTR CFW and would it work as an alternative to using HANS for the screenshots?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 18:24, 17 December 2016 (EST)
I'm asking you because I don't understand anything in the world of homebrew, and I'm not a redditor. You're my reference. Check this out here.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png
What's a cia?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 19:36, 17 December 2016 (EST)
I actually did manage to get NTR CFW on my 2DS and it works. The only issue is half the time when I take a screenshot, the game glitches out and stops rendering sprites, only models and textures. But if you can get the cartridge version of Paper Jam working with HANS, that'll be way more convenient. One thing though: DO NOT UPDATE THE GAME. It's possible that's the reason it wouldn't work for me.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 14:26, 1 February 2017 (EST)
Are you going to get the pictures then?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 21:29, 4 February 2017 (EST)

MTM

I only managed to get the DOS version working by running Windows XP through VirtualBox, and even then the results are iffy. I can save, but some parts are oddly sped up. Still, I've been getting my images directly from the folders; it's convenient that the static images are .bmp, which can be easily converted to .png. Unfortunately, any elements that are animated, including Paradise, are stored as .anx, which is a lot harder (read: impossible from what I can tell) to convert. I can try to take a screencap of the ending, but that'll require going through the rest of the game first. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 01:26, 14 December 2016 (EST)

APNG Optimizer (usable both with still and animated PNG)

In my past proposal about APNG you asked if optimizators for APNG images like Zopfling exist. They do indeed exist: APNG Optimizer is an open-source (zlib license) software that works both with still and animated PNG files and has, among the compressors, also Zopfli, making it pretty much a superset of current optimizators for still PNG files. I think it might be interesting for you, considering Google is about to implement APNG in Chrome and such an optimizer would optimize all .png files, both still and animated.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:05, 16 December 2016 (EST)

Re: Replace Images

Thanks for the advice. BTW is there any way to distinguish which screenshots in Cat:MLBIS Images are not pixel-accurate? I might have missed some JPG-converted-to-PNG images (as well as incorrectly configured ones like this). Also I have yet to hunt for images with emulator-generated borders or from a non-US locale. --A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 03:12, 18 December 2016 (EST)

Ah, thanks for the encouragement. For JPG-to-PNG, I used MS Paint's "fill/color bucket" tool to detect irregularities in color around text or game elements. And the advice to use SoftRasterizer was in time too!
Unfortunately, this is what I can do for now because there's a Giant Bowser vs Fawful Express intermission which requires the player blowing into the microphone, but the noise sample provided by DeSmuME isn't recognized as blowing, nor is my microphone input when I really blow (even after setting the Windows 7 meters to maximum), so I'm literally stuck there. --A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 21:24, 29 December 2016 (EST)
Can you tell me what that YouTube video is about? I'm unable to view it myself since YouTube is blocked in China. Thanks. --A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 23:57, 29 December 2016 (EST)
Ah, great! It worked and now I can resume the project. By the way, it seems that simply turning on SoftRasterizer is not enough to correctly render the HP/SP panels in screenshots like File:Memory ML.png in DeSmuME 0.9.11. I had to check the "Enable TXT Hack" to get a better version of that screenshot. Even worse, even with "Enable TXT Hack" turned on rendering of Baby Mario is still wrong in File:Babybowserfight.PNG compared with the Spriters Resource. (I was using the x64 version without enabling the dynamic recompiler.) --A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 01:08, 30 December 2016 (EST)

Re:Image Category Reminder

Thanks for the heads-up. I do try to categorize images as best as I can, and if I forget, anyone, including myself, can categorize them for me. Plus, if you fail to categorize images from an upload, the image will flash a reminder at you to add categories. On issuing warnings

Hi Wildgoosespeeder. The admins agreed that it was necessary to post a message here regarding some types of warnings you've been issuing lately. Please remember that before giving out any of the four warning templates, that you are fully aware of the relevant policy, and have first given the situation careful and proper judgement.

The problem has arisen several times through warning appeals from other users, which involve templates that should never have been issued in the first place. The user LuigiBro should have just been told to purge his browser's cache, as you knew that was the reason why he reverted the upload. Secondly, your reminder to The RPG Gamer regarding using HTML markup had no standing at all with the warning policy: issuing a reminder was completely out of the question. Finally, the reminder that Toadette the Achiever recently appealed should also have been considered more carefully. You yourself linked to MarioWiki:Courtesy with the reminder, even if it clearly states that " discourteous behavior is not serious enough to warrant an official {{reminder}} right off the bat" in the first paragraph.

Warnings are a serious thing, and it's important that they are issued correctly. And if you're in doubt on whether a first-time or minor infraction deserves a warning or not, it's always better to go with an informal message first. Please don't take this as a discouragement from enforcing the rules: it's just to ensure that enforcement is done properly, and hopefully it may also reduce the number of users appealing their warnings. Thanks for reading.

OpenGL for Partners in Time battles?

If you've followed my recent conversation with Shokora (talk), there's this screenshot that SoftRasterizer failed to render Luigi's hat correctly (like it did for Baby Mario). In such cases, do you know if OpenGL is a suitable substitute for the 3D rendering? I'm asking because after I retook it with OpenGL, Luigi's hat did get fixed but the action blocks above Mario got thinner except the one in the front. --A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 20:43, 12 January 2017 (EST)

Forum help?

A few weeks ago I talked to User:Shokora about the possibility of changing the logo for the wiki, and they told me I should bring it up on the forums, but I really don't enjoy forums in general, so I'd like to avoid that. I was wondering if you'd be my middle man here. Here are two designs I came up with; I like the second one more.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:01, 18 January 2017 (EST)

Replacement

Literally, no, but functionally, yes. Mario, Peach, Yoshi, and DK are the four starting characters in the game, whereas Gene is only unlocked late into the story. Since Gene was the odd man out and the four starting characters are more recognizable, I thought that it would make more sense to use DK instead of Gene. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:26, 22 January 2017 (EST)

Unless you're going to insist on literally every character from every game having images on that article, I don't see the issue with having just four images that are more than representative of the entire group. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:13, 22 January 2017 (EST)

Display engines make a difference. Google Chrome uses WebKit. IE11 uses Trident (to be fair, Microsoft always creates its own and never uses third party). Firefox uses Gecko. Thanks for your help! And they were originally going to be one article, but then I found they have more differences than commonalities. The name is different and only one power-up is needed. The only thing that remained is the objective. It makes more sense to me that they're separate. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:46, 3 February 2017 (EST)
There are a couple of other stars that do this as well, the Roll into the Cage and Luigi in the Cage. Both take place in Tick-Tock Clock and the position hasn't changed, but the name of the star and the method of obtaining it are different.
A merge make sense, sure, but so does keeping them separate. This is the problem with wikis keeping track of remakes... Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:31, 3 February 2017 (EST)

Virtual Boy Screenshots

Hi Wildgoosespeeder. I've been looking into taking screenshots from Virtual Boy emulators recently, because results in the color display can vary significantly. I've been using Red Dragon, which is old software, and I've understood that it's not recommended by Emulation General and TCRF. Both of these sources recommend the VBjin emulator instead. However, following this info on Virtual Boy color display, the RGB value of the Red is evenly spread in intervals of 85 (0-85-170-255). Using this information, the following image shows the proper colors of the Virtual Boy:

The Virtual Boy color palette, which use the following RGB values:

However, no emulator matches this exactly. Red Dragon is actually much more accurate than VBjin. See the following table that I compiled (all in RGB values).

VBjin Red Dragon Actual Virtual Boy colors
(0,0,0) (0,0,0) (0,0,0)
(135,0,0) (64,0,0) (85,0,0)
(205,0,0) (161,0,0) (170,0,0)
(255,0,0) (255,0,0) (255,0,0)

Should your draft be updated to reflect this difference? With GIMP, I replaced the colors of a Red Dragon screenshot with the correct ones, and it makes quite a difference. Compare the original screenshot with the one with corrected colors. On your draft page, should we give instructions on how to correct the colors in GIMP?

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 06:15, 11 February 2017 (EST)

Yeah, the instructions to correct it in external programs could be a little complicated for everyone to view on the policy page, and you're right: the small difference isn't too significant. I don't mind making the colour-corrections myself, so I'm happy to just keep that level of accuracy as a standard to enforce for myself and any other screenshots which I feel could be improved.

RE: A User's Submissions

It depends on the image. Shokora (talk) brought up a point in regards to the Chain Chomp images: The original screenshot image might have certain features that would be good to have around (the stake it's attached to, in this case), so anything like that doesn't need total replacing. If that's the case, I think the source image should at least be mentioned in an {{aboutfile}} template on the sprite page. K.K. Slider costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 05:30, 15 February 2017 (EST)

I would recommend that. Rips like the Mario Run sprites seem alright, but ones like File:GreenShyGuyMSS.png and File:Bob-ombMP7.png don't look like they were cropped well. K.K. Slider costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 03:52, 16 February 2017 (EST)

Since you seem to have included this in a few of your edits, I wanted to let you know that when you're adding an image to an article, it's unnecessary to include "right" in the image tags. As the image automatically defaults to the right, "left" and "center" are the only tags you need to use. It's an insignificant detail, but it helps clear out clutter. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 12:42, 14 March 2017 (EDT)

I happened to come across the citation needed on your sandbox for 1080p Wii U images. To my knowledge, the only way to obtain 1080p images is if a game has a method of saving screenshots to an SD card. The SD card can then be inserted into a computer of your choice, and you can obtain the images from there. This is how I uploaded the bulk of my images for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, though it isn't much help if the game has no such method. In most cases, the 720p method you outlined is the most reliable way of obtaining images from a Wii U.
And I hadn't noticed that you already made a note of that, so don't mind this comment. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 21:23, 17 March 2017 (EDT)
The citation thing is there understanding the technical details internally the Wii U, not so much what software designed for it can do, if at all. Yes, the Wii U can output 1080p (1920x1080), but is that what is really going on inside? Could it be taking a 1280x720 image and upscaling the frames to 1920x1080? I have lingering doubts and need clarification somehow, probably by Cemu's developers reverse engineering the console by creating an emulator. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 21:27, 17 March 2017 (EDT)

Hah! Youtube!?

Do u think I choose YouTube? No. I also know that snips from YouTube are nearly always blurry. I still insist that the latest snip was also from an emulator. I snipped it while was playing Bit Boy on Dolphin. And about my file list, except the first two (which I don't remind from where) all others were snipped while I was playing them on emulator. SSG3 pics was from the game's assets. I REALLY don't know why even snipping tool makes the shot you have got blurry. I also have this prob while ripping sprites and logos, which I snip, but it isn't pixel perfect, as I compare them to pics from the other collab websites, such as TCRF. How the heck they are pixel perfect?? :-) Do you know an alternative from Windows' Snipping Tool?Wario W. 97 (talk) 07:02, 30 March 2017 (EDT)

  • P.S. I played it again. The blur is not from my snipping. The game screen IS blurry, if you think. As a proof, You can check it out for yourself on Dolphin.

Screenshot Issue (Continued...)

Damn. I used TCRF's guide (checking auto-adjust window size and using the screenshot button) and the new pic is in native res instead of that foolish 1090x636, but when I compare them, quality is NOT changed/improved. Just the same. I think that text shades are blurry on their own. Wario W. 97 (talk) 08:28, 31 March 2017 (EDT)

  • I checked out your manual, but as I see, I taken the second pic already under your chosen circums (internal and fullscreen reso and aspect ratio as auto, stretch to window, etc.) but text shades/blurs are still present. I even tried Renderer, but make the screen bugged in addition of frame drop, in case of me, the upper half of the screen was "tiled" on the lower half also.Wario W. 97 (talk) 17:43, 31 March 2017 (EDT)
  • You don't get it. I tried with renderer (and also 16:9 now) and this is the screen, as i say it's buggy.

Wormhole (disambiguation)

Unless there's a third wormhole I don't know about, this isn't really needed, as only two articles under that name exist and both use {{distinguish}} anyway. Just thought I'd let you know first. K.K. Slider costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 03:10, 7 April 2017 (EDT)

That's true, though the ones with two entries usually have no identifier as they are commonly found through searching. Having one with "(disambiguation)" in the title would be useful if there are multiple articles with the name, while one with two entries that isn't linked by other articles seems kind of unnecessary when {{about}} or something similar takes care of it. I guess it's okay to have around if you intend to include vortex and portal, but the worm hole page (since it's a generic subject) already lists them anyway. K.K. Hi there. Nice job lately with your DK uploads. However I think I've spotted a glitchy screenshot: File:BrambleBlast565.PNG, where part of the barrel sprite is missing. Would be good if it can be recaptured :)

Hey, sorry for disturbing you, but can you please snatch three Ghost Container screenshots for these ghosts in the Scarescraper article? If you cannot do it at the moment, that's ok, as I have the game myself. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C)

Okay, I tried out my copy of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon today, I got the same problem as you, and I'm on I think the penulitmate firmware (the one before the latest one from the 3DS Direct) So I definitely think it's a HANs issue. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 13:56, 27 April 2017 (EDT)

Re: Donkey Kong Country GBA Save

I'm so sorry for taking so long to get back you, I've been dealing with some off-site stuff and I'm only just coming back here. Unfortunately, I cannot remember how I took those images for the life of me, and I cleared out my old saves a while back. I'm fairly certain that I used the saves from GameFAQS, but my attempts to use those saves have been unsuccessful. If this problem has already been settled since you asked me about it, then I apologize for being wholly unhelpful. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 21:31, 30 April 2017 (EDT)

I was just about to point out that I was being silly. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 23:20, 30 April 2017 (EDT)

Proposal

Go ahead and make another proposal. I think we're just going to leave the original one as is. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:25, 13 May 2017 (EDT)

Heh. I'll let it carry through the night and I'll give you the update when I wake up tomorrow, if anything changed at all. How's that? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:33, 13 May 2017 (EDT)
Busy this morning, so sorry for the late reply. Yes, you can go ahead and make another proposal about this. But be aware that the "Oppose" option will mean that the previous ruling will succeed. Please make sure the options you are providing are ones you are willing to act on. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:23, 14 May 2017 (EDT)
I showed the others the conversation on my page, and my previous response above is what they told me to tell you. You don't have to make another proposal right away, but we're not going to veto the original one. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:56, 15 May 2017 (EDT)

We're not going to change the ruling on the previous proposal. If you want to make a new proposal, you'll have to start drafting it as soon as possible. If someone else were to start enacting the changes from the original proposal, we're not going to stop them, as the proposal did pass. So you have as much time as until someone starts making the changes. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:24, 15 May 2017 (EDT)

Like I said, the proposal did pass. If someone ends up making the changes proposed, we're not going to stop them. The good news is, I don't think anyone wants to take the time to do that work anyway. The original proposal will become nulled should the first option of the new proposal pass. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:54, 15 May 2017 (EDT)

Just in case you end up missing it, wanted to let you know that the new proposal failed, which means you must carry out the result of the original proposal. Preferably as soon as possible, but if you want some help with it, I'm more than willing to lend you a hand. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:21, 29 May 2017 (EDT)

Re: Proposal Concerns

Thanks for the heads up, but as I follow proposals that I partake in, you don't have to message me for that in the future.
My stance also hasn't changed, as your proposal still proposes the same as before. Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 13:33, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Proposal Question

When you edited your proposal, what actually changed about it? Now looking at it again, I cannot actually tell what was really changed. From what I can tell, it still proposes that we add both what is on User:Wildgoosespeeder/MarioWiki:Proposals/Archive and the search page, which is why I originally opposed, as it seems unnecessary to have the former if a search page that acted like the current page existed. Sorry about that, I understand it now.--A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 18:47, 17 May 2017 (EDT)

At the moment, I believe I understand it. Though, if a question does come to my mind about this proposal, I will be sure to ask you. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 22:09, 17 May 2017 (EDT)

YI "unused music"

Can you confirm that this "unused music" isn't just the title theme played with the wrong instruments?

What do you mean? I don't have (or want) a custom signature. :P --Hiccup (talk) 04:09, 9 June 2017 (EDT)

I need to ask you a favor

I would like to upload a picture of a cyan Jibber Jay, but I don't have any of the "tools" so I had to take a picture from youtube (and believe me, the quality would make your eyes melt in horror!). Do you think you could help?. --User:GoombaBroadcast (talk) 03:14,9 June 2017 (UTC)

Goombas: (microgame) or (WarioWare: D.I.Y.)?

Hi, I noticed that you moved Goombas (microgame) back to Goombas (WarioWare: D.I.Y.). As per the naming policy, type identifiers must be used before we move on to video game title identifiers. Also, what do you mean by "consistency issue"? This is an example of what I'm taking about. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 17:41, 24 June 2017 (EDT)

That doesn't necessarily answer my question. Pretty much the only example of the game title actually doing a solid as an identifier (from a fifty-page sample of the wanted pages list) is Hare Raising. Again (well, maybe not again, but rather reiterating what I said earlier), check the Rocky Road disambiguation page as an example. One last thing: when giving another response, could you please state how your title identifiers comply with MarioWiki:Naming? Thanks! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 18:11, 24 June 2017 (EDT)
The templates (Template:WWDIY Microgames and Template:WWDIYS Microgames) have several instances of Microgame Name (microgame) like Paratroopa (microgame), Spiny (microgame), Pikmin (microgame), Yoshi (microgame), Mario Kart (microgame), Super Koopa (microgame), Boo (microgame), and 1-UP (microgame). Those with (WarioWare: D.I.Y.) are those with other WarioWare games. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 18:23, 24 June 2017 (EDT)
Those examples are all from the game WarioWare: D.I.Y./WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase, which wouldn't really all that bad if they all had (WarioWare: D.I.Y.) instead. Yes, two games, but we tend to think of them as one game, kind of like Super Smash Bros. 4 for the 3DS and Wii U. The games compliment each other. Unless there is a new WarioWare release for the 3DS, Wii U, or Switch that reuses the older microgames as a legacy feature, which I doubt will happen, the name is fine for right now. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 18:31, 24 June 2017 (EDT)
There is also Famicom (microgame) from WarioWare Twisted. I didn't really search the other WarioWares when I made the above post, and I just looked at WarioWare Twisted for this post. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 18:40, 24 June 2017 (EDT)
@Wildgoosespeeder: What about over fifty other articles that are treated the same, such as Chain Chomp (level), Muncher (level), Rocky Road (mission), or even game titles that can't be separated via game identifiers, such as Mario Golf (Nintendo 64) or Donkey Kong (game)? Maybe you're referring to the precedent for DK Jungle? Lastly, could you please bring up the exact line in MarioWiki:Naming that clearly states that your naming was correct? Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 18:49, 24 June 2017 (EDT)
RE: Skeeter seems fine, since Skeeter (enemy) doesn't differentiate anything as said in rule 2 of the naming identifier policy, but I suppose we should talk to Steve about the Gold Ring example. Wow, I didn't realize how weird that example is. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 19:00, 24 June 2017 (EDT)

"I don't think Porplemontage (talk) cares that much about the rules" Considering he runs the place, I'm pretty he cares very much. A majority of the microgame pages that have a name similar to a non-microgame page are identified with (microgame) rather than the game title. According to MarioWiki:Naming#Shared titles, the type of content it is should be the identifier, in this case "(microgame)". Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:12, 24 June 2017 (EDT)

I mean if there is something factually wrong or he spots vandalism, yes he cares. From my editing experience, I don't think he contributes all that much in terms of information about any topic. Doesn't really matter though. Getting off-track. I don't consider him the go-to guy for how to organize content. I would ask some other sysop. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:19, 24 June 2017 (EDT)
Does he contribute a lot? No. Does he care how the wiki is run and if the users follow the rules and policy? Yes. Regardless of what you think Porplemontage does or not, the name of the page is incorrect and should be moved back as per policy. If an identifier is needed, especially if the subject is across multiple games (which it is, in this case), the identifier is of the type of the subject, not the game it's from. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:27, 24 June 2017 (EDT)
Alright then, but there are many articles that have this problem, so would it make more sense for policy to reflect alternative names, the kind of alternative name being debated about, which could be just as valid when thought about more critically? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:36, 24 June 2017 (EDT)
