A newer model called the DS Lite was released in 2006 with four brightnes settings and a smaller overall size (this one having the negative side effect of where a regular Game Boy Advance cartridge would stick out from the bottom in a similar fashion experienced when playing a Game Boy or Game Boy Color cartridge in the older Game Boy Advance SP).
