Kurako are a humanoid species of jellyfish that make an appearance in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its remake. During the events of the game, a total of three of them appear in Gwarhar Lagoon, and one in Beanbean Fields. They include the Jellyfish Sisters, Gigi and Merri, and two children. One of the children is a girl dressed in a red bow and a dress, and acts as a receptionist to the Jellyfish Sisters' Relaxation Room.

The other child is a boy dressed in red swimming trunks, identified as Kurata. He is encountered on the Beanbean Fields coastline, near a Surfing Spot on the edge of Oho Ocean. When spoken to, he recommends shoving something into the Surfing Spot to turn it into a surfboard, hinting that this may be done by having Mario hammer Luigi into it using the Dunk Hammer.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, the Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser mode introduces another child, a girl with a purple bow and dress, who acts as an announcer and judge for Wendy's "Cutie Battle Contest".

In the original Game Boy Advance title, their faces are a bright, light purple, and in the Nintendo 3DS remake, their faces are a blackish-blue.
