Other than the racing games and the show appearances, cars don't seem to be a common form of transportation in the [[Mushroom Planet]], unlike in [[Earth]], where the car is a commonly used form of transportation.

Cars (not to be confused with Karts) are playable vehicles in Diddy Kong Racing and Diddy Kong Racing DS. The karts vary with each character and are useable in all levels except Hot Top Volcano, Everfrost Peak, Spacedust Alley, and Darkmoon Caverns. Each character has a different kart color:

Cars are also obstacles appearing in the Mario Kart series. They rarely appear in the game and actually only appear in a few courses: Toad's Turnpike (Mario Kart 64), Mushroom Bridge and Mushroom City (Mario Kart: Double Dash!!), and Shroom Ridge (Mario Kart DS).

When a player crashes into a car, he or she will spin out or be launched into the air and then come back down. The cars in the game are used as obstacles for the player. When a player crashes into one of the cars, the car will sometimes honk.

In the Mario Kart DS mission 4-3, the player's task is to reach the finish before a red car.

In Mario Party Advance, in order to travel around Party World, players would utilize a car that used Mushrooms for fuel. Cars have also appeared many times in a few episodes of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! and The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. In the Super Mario Bros. film, the cars of Dinohatten were portrayed as running on electricty and were exceptionally run-down and bizarre in appearance.

Other than the racing games and the show appearances, cars don't seem to be a common form of transportation on Mushroom World, unlike in Earth, where the car is a commonly used form of transportation.
