“Come again to Nintendo Land, and bring your friends! I'll always be eagerly anticipating your return.”
Monita, Nintendo Land

Monita is a robotic creature who is the host of Nintendo Land for the Wii U. Although a robot, she has feminine characteristics. When the game is first played, Monita is trapped in a ? Block and the player must tap it on the GamePad to free her. She then teaches the player's Mii the basic controls in the hub world. After this, the Central Tower is revealed and the player is able to access all the attractions. She also appears to congratulate the player on their achievements or give tutorials for the attractions. In some attractions, such as Luigi's Ghost Mansion, she fulfills the role of the player character when the number of players is not the maximum of five.

Monita also has her own dark counterpart called Dark Monita, who looks identical to the real Monita except for the facts that Dark Monita wears a purple jester hat and clenches her hand into a fist. Dark Monita appears in the games Pikmin Adventure and Metroid Blast to summon monsters for the player to fight. Monita calls her an "evil overlord". In the latter game, whenever a boss is encountered, Dark Monita flies in and pets it.

Another kind of Monita called Princess Monita appears in Takamaru's Ninja Castle. She is captured by a ninja and the player must rescue her. She looks like Monita except she has a "blanket" on her head.
