Regardless of what they clearly are or are not, it is (regrettably) policy here to call a subject by the name used to refer to them in each specific section. This is why the Galoomba page still calls them Goombas in their Super Mario World section. Since the Goobles were called Swoopin' Stus in official Super Mario Sunshine guides, that's just what they have to be called here. — Lady Sophie ^(T|C) 20:57, March 7, 2024 (EST)

The point you brought up as ip about the Mario Portal calling them that is fair and can be discussed further on the talk page, but I draw the line at calling the original naming "erroneous." We don't know what was going through their heads when they named it, so calling it an error is highly disingenuous. (Also the same game has the clearly full-blob Proto Piranhas alongside normal-but-slime-covered Piranha Plants and Bloopers-that-look-like-squid alongside Bloopers-that-look-like-jellyfish, so the "clearly not" argument doesn't really work anyway.)
