RE: Replacing Lower Quality Image[edit]

First of all, hey, welcome to the Super Mario Wiki! Even with a new account, you should be able to upload new versions of an image, there's a button for that at the bottom of every image file page below its revision history. However, it must be a file from your computer. When you are autoconfirmed, you can upload files from a URL. Additionally, more information on images can be found at Help:Images.

Don't worry about having to ask for information, most of the users are willing to help :) Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:47, 2 January 2019 (EST)

Cwfmu: Oh, thank you! I don't really know what was happening. Thank you for the help

Happy to help! Yeah, should've added this: The images have to be the same type in order to upload a new revision. If they are different, the replacement image has to be uploaded separately (be sure to fill out the {{aboutfile}} and categorize correctly!), the image replacing the original image on the pages it is on, and the original image has to be marked for deletion.
Also, when uploading a new revision, you have to refresh the page with Ctrl+F5 to see the change :/ Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 01:32, 3 January 2019 (EST)
Yeah, revert that file back and refresh, it should appear. Well, you did that already :P Whether you resize the image or not is up to you, though the |thumb parameter will resize images for you. If it's an infobox image, |thumb isn't used, and images are only resized if they are too big. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 01:52, 3 January 2019 (EST)

Hello, Cwfmu. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded coding is shown below.

{{aboutfile
|1=Subject of the image
|2=Where you found the image
|3=Artist
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)
}}

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line of the variable(s) you don't use. If you do not wish to use the template at all, then it is acceptable to simply remove it before you upload the file. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using {{aboutfile}} incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Hello, I am placing this reminder here due to fitting in with the above discussion, anyways, thanks for your recent uploads. However, you need to remember to add the {{aboutfile}} template as listed above. You are already adding descriptions to your uploads, so you just need to add the specific code for the template as described above. Thanks! They appeared to have been trying to do so, with it apparently not working properly. Look at the initial upload coding as seen at the bottom. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:04, 3 January 2019 (EST)

Due to how horrendous that site is to navigate, when sourcing from it, I request that you use the url the exact image came from, and not the site's home page. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:11, 3 January 2019 (EST)
