If we merged the two, we would basically treat the Game Boy Color as a variant, which it is not. The Game Boy Color has several ''Mario'' games for it as well, and some of the earlier ones are cross-compatible with original Game Boy units. The Game Boy Color also has its own peripherals, unique BIOS, and some other original details (take the [[Game Boy Horror]] for instance). So no, this would basically bloat the Game Boy article and make it user-unfriendly. It has nothing to do with system specifications or marketing, the Game Boy Color has exclusive Mario games that can only be played on it, so it gets an article.
