Knik-Knaks are beetle-like enemies in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III, appearing commonly in riverside-themed levels.
Knik-Knaks (also known as Niknaks) are small beetles encountered in both Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble and Donkey Kong Land III. They come in two colors, red and yellow, the latter being quite rare. The red variation replaces the Flitters from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, while the yellow variation replaces Click-Clacks. According to the game's credits, Knik-Knaks belong to the "Terrorfirma Tuff Guys" enemy class, even though most of them are found flying instead of walking.

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
Knik-Knaks appear in two color variations, red and yellow, in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! The red Knik-Knaks flap their wings to stay in midair, and most of them do not move around. This behavior is shared with Flitters from the previous game, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. The red Knik-Knaks can be defeated with a single hit from the Kongs, usually by jumping on them. There are instances where the Kongs must jump from Knik-Knaks to reach a Bonus Area or to obtain items, such as an Extra Life Balloon. Yellow Knik-Knaks are a bit stronger than their red counterparts, because unlike them, yellow Knik-Knaks cannot fly and walk back and forth instead. Just like Click-Clacks from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, a yellow Knik-Knak can be defeated from being jumped on twice; when Dixie or Kiddy Kong first jump on a yellow Knik-Knak, it flips over on its back. They have the option to pick up the enemy and use it as a projectile. After a few seconds, if the flipped Knik-Knak is not picked up, it jumps right back up and continues moving around. Yellow Knik-Knaks can instantly be defeated from a roll attack.

At some point during Bobbing Barrel Brawl, Ellie the Elephant encounters two red Knik-Knaks briefly walking on the ground and then taking off. At some point, the two Knik-Knaks stop moving and remain in one position. Ellie must jump from both Knik-Knaks to gain enough momentum to fall down into the second Bonus Barrel at the bottom of a nearby pool.
In Donkey Kong Country 3, Knik-Knaks are fairly uncommon enemies found in only a few of the game's levels. While red Knik-Knaks usually remain stationary in the air, only occasionally venturing onto the ground, the much rarer yellow variety of Knik-Knak are found exclusively on the ground. Knik-Knaks mostly appear in riverbank levels such as Riverside Race for the red breed and Lightning Lookout for the yellow breed, but they can also be found in other areas, which highlights their adaptability. These bugs are not as weak as they look, as jumping on them when they are on the ground will only knock them on their backs. While in this defenseless state, Knik-Knaks can either be jumped on again, which will defeat them for good, or be picked up and used as a projectile weapon against other enemies. However, flying Knik-Knaks can be defeated by a single jump, and a cartwheel instantly defeats any Knik-Knak.

Yellow Knik-Knaks play an essential role in Belcha's Barn, where Belcha spits out barrels that each a yellow Knik-Knak. The Kongs can throw the Knik-Knak into Belcha's mouth to make it burp, propelling it backwards, until Belcha eventually falls into a gap at the end.
In many levels, Knik-Knak must be jumped on to reach Bonus Areas or hidden items such as Extra Life Balloons. While battling Belcha, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong throw yellow Knik-Knaks into the giant barrels mouth, this causing the barrel monster to burp; if Belcha burps enough times he falls into a pit. Also, in "Lightning Lookout", Dixie can hold yellow Knik-Knaks above her head to protect herself from the lightning.

In Dixie Kong's Photo Album, Knik-Knaks are classifed as part of the "Terrorfirma Tuff Guys."
In Donkey Kong Land III, Knik-Knaks, here known as Niknaks, never touch the ground during the entire game; they are always found flying in the air.
