Color-Switch Dungeon is a course in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. It is found in the Sunbaked Desert and is unlocked after clearing either The Desert Mystery or Valley Fulla Snootles. This course features ON/OFF Switches throughout that change the direction of colored Zip Tracks and cause blocks and platforms to appear and disappear. Completion of this course unlocks Break Time! Lights Out. The difficulty of this course is two stars, and it houses two Wonder Seeds.

Layout[edit]

The players start at an area where there are three jars, with two of them being pushed close to the players due to a blue Zip Track. The players must hit a nearby ON/OFF Switch to change the Zip Track's color to red, which will cause it to flip directions. The players will be transported to an area where they must activate another ON/OFF Switch to cause blocks to appear and to cause a Zip Track to lead the players to the rooftops. These rooftops have some dried Wow Buds, more jars with some containing water, Zip Tracks, an ON/OFF Switch and Serponts with jars on their heads. By using the ON/OFF Switch to change the color to red, the players can progress onwards and activate another ON/OFF Switch that will cause the blocks below the players to disappear and cause them to fall into the building, where a locked door is. A key is needed to unlock the door, which can be found on the left side of the room. There is a Serpont here that the players should avoid. After unlocking the door the players can access it, which will take the players to an area where they must activate an ON/OFF Switch to cause the blocks below them to disappear, making the players fall deeper into the building where the first Checkpoint Flag is.

Past the first Checkpoint Flag is an area that is very dark and thus only shows the silhouettes of the characters. Several Lil Sparkies and Hotheads roam around floating rows of blocks in the air that illuminate their surroundings, revealing the type of blocks. These blocks can be ? Blocks, ON/OFF Switches or grey blocks. After progressing a little bit through this area, the Wonder Flower can be seen close to the ceiling. To get to it, the players must activate an ON/OFF Switch and dash across many spaced-out blocks to obtain it. After collecting the Wonder Flower, the lights will turn on and Rift Mario will appear and chase the players, following their every action. The path ahead has more ON/OFF Switches, Lil Sparkies and Hotheads. At the end of the path is the Wonder Seed, which will end the Wonder Effect, causing Rift Mario to disappear and the lights to turn off. A nearby pipe will transport the players to the second Checkpoint Flag.

Beyond the second Checkpoint Flag are more Zip Tracks that will take the players to the rooftops once again. At the left is a pipe that spawns an infinite amount of jars containing water, which can be used to water the dried Wow Buds in the area. The rooftops have more Zip Tracks, ON/OFF Switches and one Serpont, but there are pits that will transport the players to ground level, where more Zip Tracks, ON/OFF Switches and Serponts are, as well as another locked door that requires another key to unlock. Using Zip Tracks at the left side of the area will transport the players between both levels. The far right side of the bottom area has the key needed to unlock the door, which will transport the players to where the Goal Pole is. They can then use one final ON/OFF Switch to cause blocks to appear, helping them to reach the top of the Goal Pole.

10-flower coins[edit]

  • 10-flower coin 1: Found near the start of the course, after using Zip Track to travel higher. To get to the coin however, the Zip Track leading to it has to be red, as it will lead the players away from the coin while blue.
  • 10-flower coin 2: Past the second Checkpoint Flag, in between two Zip Tracks. The coin is in the middle of the gap between them.
  • 10-flower coin 3: Past the second Checkpoint Flag, at the far right of the rooftop section is a dried Wow Bud. After giving it water, whether it be with a jar full of water or by a character in Elephant Form, it will activate and cause the coin to appear and fall in the space to the right of the Wow Bud. If the ON/OFF Switches are red, then a wall of blocks will block the coin, and so the ON/OFF Switches must be blue to allow the players to collect the coin.

Enemies[edit]

Talking Flower quotes[edit]

The Talking Flowers in this course change color to match the ON/OFF Switches. They say different quotes depending on what color they are.

  • "Welcome!" (near the start of the course, while red)
    • "Will you figure it all out?" (while blue)
  • "Good luck with this part." (at the first locked door, while blue)
    • "You're doing great!" (while red)
  • "Makes you really think, huh?" (found below the Zip Tracks where the second 10-flower coin is, while blue)
    • "Which way you gonna go?" (while red)
  • "Huh. Nice work." (close to the Goal Pole, while blue)
    • "Well done!" (while red)
