X-Nauts are aliens that work for Grodus and Lord Crump of the X-Naut Legion and they all appear in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. These guys are short and individually weak, but rush to defend their threatened leader, often Lord Crump.

X-Naut Troopers are the lesser X-Nauts, also the weakest. These types of X-Nauts are field troops and the lowest of Grodus' underlings. When led by high-ranking commanders, such as Lord Crump, they can use more attacks.

Elite X-Nauts are high-ranking soldier X-Nauts and of course, the strongest X-Nauts. Unlike the Trooper X-Naut or the PhD, his type of X-Naut wears a red-and-black uniform with a white X to signify their rank. Judging by their rank, they are usually sent on special missions. One of their usual tasks include guarding their Headquarters on the Moon.

An X-Naut PhD is an X-Naut that wears a lab coat and a blue uniform. As the name implies, it is an expert X-Naut Scientist and it is usually responsible for building the inventions the other X-Nauts use for their plans, such as the Magnus Von Grapple Robots. It attacks by throwing chemicals at Mario and his team. They also created the species called Yux.

The lowest rank.

Regular X-Naut Stats

  • HP: 4
  • Attack: 3
  • Defense: 0
  • Locations: X-Naut Fortress, The Great Tree, Keelhaul Key
  • Tattle Number: 107
  • Tattle Log: A foot soldier that uses potions and attacks by ramming. This X-Naut is the lowest of Grodus's underlings.
  • Tattle: That's an X-Naut. Says here it's classified as an `enemy combatant'. This description stinks... You think it means they're just low-level foot soldiers? Max HP is 4, Attack is 3 and Defense is 0. They drink these potions that make them all big and burly and they attack! One's easy, but if there's two or more, better watch out! Use special moves and items!

X-Naut Platoon Stats

  • HP: 6/10
  • Attack: 4/5
  • Defense: 0
  • Location: Keelhaul Key
  • Tattle: That's an X-Naut platoon. Crump commands them all. Where'd they come from? Their Max HP depends on their condition, but Attack is 5 and Defense is 0. They're gonna come at us with coordinated group maneuvers, I'm sure. ...But they're pretty wimpy, so we should be able to handle it, don'tcha think?

X-Naut PHD Stats

  • HP: 9
  • Attack: 4
  • Defense: 0
  • Locations: X-Naut Fortress
  • Tattle Number: 108
  • Tattle Log: An X-Naut that throws chemicals. Research is ongoing about the effects of the chemicals they throw.
  • Tattle: That's an X-Naut PhD. Guys like this invent all the annoying things we fight. Max HP is 9, Attack is 4 and Defense is 0. He likes to throw beakers of chemicals. The chemicals do all kinds of stuff, like making things huge or burning people. He may also use potions to heal himself or make himself impossible to hit. X-Naut PhDs are REALLY annoying, so take them out before they boost themselves.

Elite X-Naut Stats

  • HP: 10
  • Attack: 5
  • Defense:' 1
  • Location: X-Naut Fortress
  • Tattle Number: 109
  • Tattle Log: The pinnacle of the X-Naut troops, this soldier tackles and throws potions. Elite X-Nauts may be enhanced with nutrients developed by X-Naut PhDs.
  • Tattle: That's an Elite X-Naut. This guy is the creme de la creme of the X-Nauts. Max HP is 10, Attack is 5 and Defense is 1. He'll use regular attacks as well boosting his power or size. Elite X-Nauts are tough, but you just have to smack away until they go down.
