Hi, you seem to be new around here, and I noticed your edits to the Huffin Puffin page, so I thought I'd be a friendly neighborhood AwdryFan and give a few pointers to ensure you enjoy your career here.

  • Don't make jokes on articles. Unlike The Cutting Room Floor, MarioWiki needs you to write in an encyclopediac manner. Likewise, don't share your opinions on the articles themselves. Use your user page for that sort of thing.
  • Use correct grammar and spelling. That's a given. It's okay to make mistakes, and it's likely someone will clean up after you eventually, but try to not do it in the first place.
  • Don't write about topics you don't know about. Once, I tried to rewrite the Donkey Kong article (I'm still pretty sure it needs a rewrite, that article is a complete and utter mess), despite admittedly not being very on the subject. Though, I will say, for future reference, the original Donkey Kong from the arcade games is not the same one from the Donkey Kong Country series. The original is now named Cranky Kong, as clearly stated since the first DKC.
  • This wiki operates under the philosophy that the Mario series has no continuity. While I completely disagree, that is how the Wiki operates.
  • Do not make articles about non-Mario content. To clarify, this wiki makes articles about Super Smash Bros. (not a Mario game by any means, but sure, whatever) and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. So, there are articles for the Fire Emblem characters, but only the ones in Smash (Marth, Red Marth, Big Sword Marth, Female Marth, Magic Book Marth, Barefoot Marth, Female Marth's Dad, and The Marth That Ruined Fire Emblem's Reputation And Forced Everyone To Buy More DLC) and ONLY discussing their appearances in Smash. Likewise, we can only cover the Sonic the Hedgehog characters that appear in Mario & Sonic, and only their roles in those games. At the end of the day, don't make articles about Master Chief or crap like that.
  • Be civil. Do not harass others. If an administrator tells you to jump, you ask how high on the way up. Common courtesy.
  • Do not use this wiki if you are under 13. Not sure if this is an official rule, but it is the law in many countries.
  • And most importantly, USE COMMON SENSE.

And that's it from me! Enjoy your time here! And, just a suggestion, but looking at the list of blocked users, the wiki seems to have a policy against the number 666 in usernames. I'd recommend changing it, just to be safe. For further details, the wiki has articles on these rules, I just wanted to share the basics and give an introduction. Have fun! - AwdryFan1997 (talk) 22:51, July 1, 2020 (EDT)

And, while I'm at it, don't get the idea that I'm credible or anything. I frankly have absolutely no right to write any of this stuff. Basically, welcome to the wiki, and I hope you enjoy it. - AwdryFan1997 (talk) 21:05, July 2, 2020 (EDT)

References

Please avoid treating passing resemblances and things that "might be referencing something" as references. A reference is a reference if it's clearly intentionally referring to another game. See this page. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 00:58, October 1, 2020 (EDT)

Remember to preview

When editing a link with [[ ]], or just any edit in general, please preview it before submitting. This immediately tells you if any links are broken (red) or if they work (blue) e.g. Wario Land Two vs Wario Land II. If the link is broken, look for the article manually to find the correct name. If it's blue, open it up in a new tab (right click, "Open link in new tab") to check it leads to the right place, including if it had to redirect e.g. Wario Land 2 leads to Wario Land II, and per the writing standards, should be changed to minimise redirection. Also be aware the links are case sensitive e.g. Wario Land II vs wario land II. The preview also gives you another opportunity to proofread, so its just useful in general. This is all to prevent multiple bad edits where one is needed. Mistakes happen a lot when you're new at editing wiki pages, so don't feel too bad about it, I'm just giving you useful info. Please read Help:Link on how to correctly add a link. Special:Interwiki provides a list of prefixes to use for outside wikis, including a Zelda Wiki. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 21:22, October 4, 2020 (EDT)

Uploads

When uploading files next time, please keep in mind that they should be filled in with file information including a license and category. I noticed you used the image uploader from the editing textbox, but I suggest going to Special:Upload (the "Upload file" link under "tools" on the navigation pane) to do this as it's easier. When you do, the "aboutfile" should be filled out, "{{uncategorized}}" should be replaced with an appropriate image category from Category:MarioWiki images (so for a Wario Land image, you'd follow the subcategory "Images by game" and find "Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 Images", so you'd type in [[Category:Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 Images]]), and a license is selected from the "Licensing" drop-down menu (in this case, "Video game screenshot").

Regarding the "before/after" level links, they are based on their positions on the map and which exits lead to where, not numerical order.

Last thing, please try to watch your grammar, specifically when to use commas and periods. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 23:54, October 11, 2020 (EDT)

"You"

Avoid using "you" on articles. Instead, we use the term "the player" or the character's name. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 20:27, November 11, 2020 (EST)

G&W Lost Levels

Everything that concerns the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. version of Lost Levels is on that article. Next time you see something you added was reverted, please check the article's history (the "history" tab at the top of the page) as a reason might have been left when it was removed. Standard frames

Can you please point me to this "standard" frame in the original Luigi's Mansion? As far as I know there are only three frames: bronze, silver and gold. Is it possible you're confusing this with the 3DS version (which adds a platinum frame while the bronze frames are the sketch drawings you mentioned)? Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 00:09, December 2, 2020 (EST)

ok so i'm gonna give it to you straight, I misunderstood the frame stylings in that game until yesterday, apparently i had the silver frame for Slim Bankshot and didn't even realize it WAS the silver one, i thought that it was a totally different frame, i'll take the punch on this one, i apologize about the misunderstanding

Xth level

Indicating it's the 24th, 25th etc. level is not necessary, readers can look at the level codes and world/level lists for that. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 19:48, December 30, 2020 (EST)

Writing

Please keep in mind that game titles must be italicised (e.g. Super Mario World must be formatted as Super Mario World, two apostrophes on each side: ''Super Mario World'').

Your grammar also still needs work. Remember to end sentences with periods, and avoid comma splices and use periods when starting a new sentence, not commas. For example, "This was meant to be a full on reference to Super Mario World." is a separate sentence and shouldn't use a comma joining to the previous statement.

I recommend reading through MarioWiki:Manual of Style. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 19:37, January 9, 2021 (EST)

Scrubbing Sirena Beach

Please don't just put previously reverted edits back without saying anything, especially after the one reverting your edit is asking you something about it or have given a valid reason. Do you at least have clarification that the glitch in Scrubbing Sirena Beach happens in the original GameCube version as well? Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8

Yes i do actually, i have experienced it on the actual gamecube cd before, it's only happened like once or twice that i can remember but it is in it, it's just extremely rare
