Similar to his 1993 film counterpart, he is portrayed as an Italian/Brooklyn-born plumber and co-owner of Super Mario Bros. Plumbing, a plumbing business, with his younger brother Luigi, but is later sucked into a green pipe to the Mushroom Kingdom. He is voiced by Chris Pratt in the American version, Claudio Santamaria in the Italian version, and Mamoru Miyano in the Japanese version.

Physical description

Mario appearance is similar to his Nintendo video game counterpart. He retains his general proportions but does differs from the games slightly. He also has smaller hands, mustache, nose, and overall buttons; rounder eyes and cap; a shirt collar; scaled down hair features; more detail on his teeth and hair; and a pocket on his overalls.
