Mario & Yoshi soaring in the sky.

Mario will find Yoshi in an egg, which he has to simply crack to open. Yoshi will change colors when eating a power-up. An Orange Yoshi can run very fast, a Light Blue Yoshi gets inflated and floats upwards like the Bee Suit. When controlling Yoshi, the player's Wii Remote cursor is the target for Yoshi's tongue.

A Luma and the Star Spin make a return. Mario is seen sliding down a ramp. Also, 2D stages as seen in Super Mario Galaxy make a return. Mario is seen swimming underwater, picking up a drill, hitting swichtes that freeze water, hitting switches that briefly stop time, and rolling a giant snowball.

In a Purple Coin stage, Mario is seen alongside many dark Marios who follow everything he does.

There is a Galaxy in which some planets are in the forms of musical instruments.
