Skating Goombas[1] are Shoe Goombas wearing Ice Skates that appear in Super Mario 3D World and its campaign in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, only appearing in the levels Snowball Park and Ty-Foo Flurries. If the player character gets close to one, it starts skating toward them. Coming into contact with a Skating Goomba will damage the character, but it can be defeated by jumping on it as with a standard Goomba. Some of them will drop their Ice Skate if defeated, allowing characters to ride it if they contact it.

In the Bowser's Fury campaign of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, two Cat Goombas wearing Ice Skates appear at the beginning of Slipskate Slope if the current mission is "Key to the Cat Shine". More are also seen in this area after all five missions of the island have been completed.

Skating Goombas reappear on the world map of Dr. Mario World, in the second half of World 26 alongside penguins, after the area is cleared of viruses.
