A Nozzle Box.

Nozzle Boxes are colored boxes in Super Mario Sunshine. They have Professor E. Gadd's face on them, and they contain FLUDD's different Nozzles. Blue Nozzle boxes contain the Hover Nozzle, red ones contain the Rocket Nozzle, and black ones contain the Turbo Nozzle. FLUDD begins automatically equipped with the Hover Nozzle. All three types are found in Delfino Plaza and its surrounding areas.

Mario can open the box and equip the Nozzle simply by Jumping on the box. FLUDD can equip two Nozzles, but one of them must be the standard Squirt Nozzle. This means that if Mario wants to change Nozzles, the Hover Nozzle is replaced.

Blue Nozzle Boxes are always accessible, but most of the others start off as holograms. Mario must find and open the real Nozzle Box, usually in a hard-to-reach place, to make the other Nozzle Boxes solid.

Whenever Mario switches Nozzles via a Nozzle Box, his water supply is refilled.

Trivia

  • In Delfino Plaza, head to the east bell tower (to Mario's right as he starts off). Jump to a very thin ledge halfway up the tower. Enter first-person view, and look up. Part of the tower will disappear, revealing an unreachable red Nozzle Box.
