Red Links

Don't remove red links, okay?HK

Red links signify a need to create an article about the subject, putting it on the most wanted page. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 17:26, 6 August 2006 (EDT)
If a red link page (in this case, Elite & Dark Wizzerd) is included in another page, in this case Wizzerd, instead of removing the red links (again), you could have done two things:
 1. Use (Elite/Dark) Wizzerd
 2. Create those two pages as a redirect page: #REDIRECT Wizzerd.
Red links actually contribute to the Super Mario Wiki, even if they look ugly. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 19:58, 6 August 2006 (EDT)
Okay. I've been a member at Wikipedia for some time now, and everyone there was frantic over removing red links. Thanks for correcting me. I enjoy it, really.

Race Courses

Please see PipeProject:Mario Kart#Structure for proper ways to end a race or battle course article. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 19:38, 29 August 2006 (EDT)

Okay. Thank you!

Use of "You"

Thank you for your recent articles. However, I must point out that the use of the word "you" is frowned upon in Mario Wiki articles. If you can, could you please change "you" to either a character's name, or "player" if it refers specifically to an action that needs to be performed by a gamer. Also, you can use the words "driver" or "racer" when writing race course articles. Thanks again. -- Son of Suns

Thank you.Waluigi Freak 99 17:56, 9 September 2006 (EDT)

Chubby

Please check the Chubby and Talk: Chubby pages and give me your input. -- Son of Suns

Reply: Redirects

Paper Jorge is right, WF99, yet PJ, you can't expect WF99 to search here for the answer. ;) The first section, Red Links, an old comment about the Wizzerd articles, shows the code.

#REDIRECT article

When you preview it, it will look like

 1. REDIRECT article

but the code will kick in when the page is created. In addition, the redirect code must be the only wiki code on the whole page. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 22:32, 10 September 2006 (EDT)

Oh, okay. I tried just typing in #REDIRECT [article], but it didn't seem to do anything. The preview looked like you said it would. Now I know it's supposed to do that.
Thanks.Waluigi Freak 99 16:22, 11 September 2006 (EDT)
Did you use double brackets? Or is the problem already solved? -- Son of Suns
Oh. Yes, I used double brackets. I just didn't type in double brackets here because I didn't want the word "ARTICLE" to appear on the most wanted pages. ;) It's taken care of, though. Thanks.

Mini-games

Maybe you should explain the controls as well as the object of the minigame. Just a thought. Monty Mole 17:28, 11 September 2006 (EDT)

That'd be a help. Thanks for the tip.Waluigi Freak 99 17:29, 11 September 2006 (EDT)
Be sure to say "the player" instead of "you" or the SMWikify PipeProject will be breathing down your neck. ;) Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 17:41, 11 September 2006 (EDT)
By the way, the category is now at Category: Mini-games (with the hyphen), not Minigames. Monty Mole 21:05, 11 September 2006 (EDT)
Thanks for the work, MM. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 21:17, 11 September 2006 (EDT)

Category Links

Hey, WF99, a FYI on an advanced editing technique:

I noticed you removed the category links on this page. Actually, by adding a : in the link, it directly links to the category page, not adding this page to the category itself: :Category: Items produces Category: Items, and there is no category box at the end of the page. Same goes to internally link images: :Image:Yoshimariocap.jpg produces Image:Yoshimariocap.jpg, without adding the image. You can even pipe the link: Enemies Category, Luigi Image. Keep up the good work on mini-games. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 17:40, 12 September 2006 (EDT)

Thanks.Waluigi Freak 99 17:44, 12 September 2006 (EDT)

Template

I noticed you made the template for the Super Strikes. Can you teach me how to do that? Because I want to make one for the Special Shots in Mario Hoops 3-on-3. Monty Mole (Talk·Contribs) 17:48, 24 September 2006 (EDT)

Sure. Tips on your talk page.Waluigi Freak 99 19:50, 24 September 2006 (EDT)
I made the template, but it's too big vertically. Do you know how to split it up into two columns? Monty Mole (Talk·Contribs) 20:26, 25 September 2006 (EDT)
Nope. You should see Wayoshi about that. Could you provide a link to the template, please?Waluigi Freak 99 20:29, 25 September 2006 (EDT)
I already asked Son of Suns, but he's offline right now. I wanted to know if you knew how. Oh, and the template is at Template: Special Shots Monty Mole (Talk·Contribs) 20:30, 25 September 2006 (EDT)

archive

can you make me an archive

(This previously unsigned comment was made by Superchao.

I really don't know how, sorry. See User:Monty Mole about that.Waluigi Freak 99 20:16, 24 September 2006 (EDT)
HE DIDN'T RESPOND! Superchao 20:20, 24 September 2006 (EDT)
You can't expect him to be active every waking moment of the day; he's probably offline. Wait; I think I might be able to figure it out. Hold on.
Waluigi Freak 99 20:24, 24 September 2006 (EDT)
Sorry, can't help you. :(

Damsels...

Change the name. Damsels implies female. Superchao 20:16, 25 September 2006 (EDT)

Untrue. Damsels can also be male.Waluigi Freak 99 20:17, 25 September 2006 (EDT)
Well, it would make more sense to say like victims. Superchao 20:18, 25 September 2006 (EDT)
Victims would change the category. For example, Bowser was victim to Mario's jump, but that doesn't mean he was kidnapped. I think it's fine the way it is.Waluigi Freak 99 20:19, 25 September 2006 (EDT)

Sorry to dampen your hopes, but just how many damsels are there on the wiki? It doesn't seem to warrant a PipeProject. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 20:47, 25 September 2006 (EDT)

Technically speaking, anyone who was rescued by anyone is technically a "damsel". But, yeah, that's why I brought it to the suggestions page first. I'll remove it if you want me to. It really doesn't matter if you have a Pipe Project or not, as long as you're helping the Wiki.Waluigi Freak 99 17:22, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
The only problem with the suggestion is that there aren't many articles on damsels on the wiki and there aren't many damsels total in the Marioverse. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 17:23, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
True. Suggestion removed.Waluigi Freak 99 17:25, 26 September 2006 (EDT)

Reply: Rules

I wholeheartedly agree that some rules need to be set, then linked to in Help:Contents and welcome. I will be out for 3 days, and I'll get to it then; but I must ask you, where do you see users complaining about why they have been blocked? Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 15:18, 6 October 2006 (EDT)

Caption in the Waluigi picture

I really don't want to be a pest about this, but the way that type of comparison works is the way I phrased it. Waluigi (rival #2, we'll say) is the the Wario (rival #1) to Luigi's (original #2) Mario (original #1.) It's sort of a moot point now, but I just wanted to clarify why I kept changing it.

-joeymartin64

However, what you are saying is Waluigi is the Wario to Mario. Wario is the Wario to Mario, not Waluigi. The word "Luigi's", in this case, is a descriptive term referring to Mario. "Luigi's" describes Mario. The other way, Waluigi is the Wario to Mario's Luigi, makes "Mario's" the descriptive term. This can be removed to say Waluigi is the Wario to Luigi, which makes much more sense. -- Son of Suns

No, I'm not. I'm saying he's the Wario to Luigi's Mario. There's a big difference. What it means is that Luigi is the subject (for lack of a better term), and Mario is the descriptor, being used figuratively to refer to the fact that he's the counterpart to Luigi, as Wario is the counterpart to Waluigi. Maybe it'd make more sense with quotes, like so: Waluigi is the "Wario" to Luigi's "Mario." -joeymartin64

It's a moot point right now anyways. Regardless, whenever you add "'s" to a noun, it becomes a descriptive term towards another noun. That's just how English grammar works. What I think you mean to say is "Waluigi is to Wario as Luigi is to Mario". Luigi's Mario doesn't make sense. -- Son of Suns

Right, but "Mario" is being used figuratively, not literally. In this case, "Luigi's Mario" means that something attributed to Mario (him being the basis for a rival) is being used to describe Luigi. Maybe I should use a different example, as all the similar names make it a bit clunky to describe. For instance, one might say that Kazooie is the Diddy Kong to Banjo's Donkey Kong. The order of reference goes "Sidekick 2/Sidekick 1/Original 2/Original 1." Replace the Kongs with the Mario bros. (#1: DK->Mario, #2: Diddy->Luigi) and the B-K characters with the Wario bros. (#1: Banjo->Wario, #2: Kazooie->Waluigi) and you'll see what I'm getting at. I can see how that might get confusing, but "Luigi's Mario" is the proper order. But, as you say, it's moot at this point. -joeymartin64

Why are we discussing this on my user talk page? :P Waluigi Freak 99 19:10, 23 October 2006 (EDT)
