Mario charges up a Mega Strike to use in Mario Strikers Charged
Mario attempts to charge up a Mega Strike.

A Mega Strike is a strong shot in Mario Strikers Charged. It is a much stronger counterpart of Super Mario Strikers's Super Strike. To perform this move, players must hold B Button to charge until a meter appears. Through proper timing, a player determines the number of balls as the meter swings right. When the meter moves back towards the left, proper timing determines ball speed. For example, lining up speed directly on the orange marker allows for the fastest available shot. After the shot specifics have been determined, the captain launches into the air, powers up further and then slams the ball towards the goalie. After that happens, the goalie must block the goals another way (Mega Strike Block).

Players can shoot between three and six balls, which can either go at a slow, fast, or very fast speed, depending on the color the meter stops on. Balanced captains have a balanced chance of getting the best choices for both sides; Playmaker and Defensive captains have a bigger orange zone of doing very fast Mega Strikes, while they have a smaller zone to fire six balls; Power and Offensive captains have a bigger zone of firing up to six balls, while they have a smaller zone to do very fast Mega Strikes.

Once a Mega Strike is performed, if the player scores any points, there will be a small cutscene celebration that lasts a few seconds.

When defending a Mega Strike the player must use the Wii Remote to control the Kritter's hand and block the incoming soccer balls.

Captain's Mega Strikes

Unlike Super Strikes, which have a specific name for each captain in Super Mario Strikers, Mega Strikes are unnamed except in the Japanese version of the game. The Japanese names (which are themselves derived from English) along with their English transliterations are listed below.[1]
