Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

Support

  1. TasteTheFiresOfHelp (talk) Considering how new this version of 3D World is, the article is already of extremely good quality, with long but still easy to understand descriptions of the story, reception, vast amount of differences from the Wii U/original version of 3D World, and Bowser's Fury itself, and good quality images around all of the article so that it is more immersive, with certainly no red links. All of the new areas and features of Bowser's Fury have blue links with a really impressive image. This should definitely be featured as especially considering the game came out less than three months ago (while writing this) it is detailed and long yet still favoring quality over quantity with a visually standout quality of images, and all blue links.
  2. Giga Cat Weegee (talk) I, Giga Cat Weegee, declare that this article is given a star to show that it is is a featured one. Reason why? It's a really good article that accurately explains pretty much everything on the Bowser's Fury mode of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. Edit:The article has been improved thanks to it's recent heavy updates, so now that it looks like it does really contain everything, I suppose is was wrong at first. So now the article definitely does deserve to be featured.
  3. 0blivion (talk) As someone who has worked on this article extensively since the game came out, I am confident it meets the high standard of quality shared by featured articles. If there's anything else that needs to be addressed on it, please let me know. Otherwise, per the others.

#Archivist Toadette (talk) This is an article on a game remake done right.
#The Mansion (talk) The best has been done.

Oppose

  1. The Mansion (talk) Opposing for now, until some of the mentioned suggestions are addressed or added. For me, the bosses section can be refurbished a bit more.

Looks like it's my turn to request images. The recently-made power-up table is still missing a couple of images of Mario holding a potted Piranha Plant and riding in an Ice Skate. Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 19:45, May 3, 2021 (EDT)

These were added last night by 0blivion. Therefore, this reason for not giving it a support vote is out of date. TasteTheFiresOfHelp (talk), 8:18, May 4, 2021 (EST)

The Story section is intertwined with gameplay elements. I’m specifically referring to the fourth and last paragraphs, which should find new home somewhere in the Gameplay section as they go into detail about parts dependent on the player’s actions, such as Mario needing to collect Cat Shines while avoiding Bowser’s Fury, and Bowser Jr. gaining a new cat appearance once a certain condition is satisfied. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 09:00, May 4, 2021 (EDT)

I've just addressed this as well. 0blivion (talk) 10:14, May 4, 2021 (EDT)

I think the gameplay changes need to be in prose rather than a list. See Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 16:07, May 4, 2021 (EDT)

Glowsquid has shared some pretty valuable input in the MarioWiki Discord re: how it should be organized:

"for example super mario all-stars, for the graphic section you could start with a prose paragraph that says "all-stars overhauls the graphical presentation of its component games redrawing sprites, adding paralax scrolling that wasn't there before, etc etc and then you have the bullets listing the specific "snifits are now green instead of red" stuff

i don't feel the two examples you gave as they are now are really all that preferable. right now you just a bunch of short paragrahs sandwiches between tons of rogue line breaks"

Just throwing that out there, I'd also like to take into account how I'd change the article up. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 19:19, May 4, 2021 (EDT)

The updated graphics section can also use a comparison screenshot between this and the original release. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 19:21, May 4, 2021 (EDT)

Haven't played the game and I don't know much about it, so I'll do a peer review:

  • "which takes place in an open-world area called Lake Lapcat and involves Mario and Bowser Jr. cooperating to bring Fury Bowser back to an uncorrupted state." What corrupted Bowser? What does Fury Bowser do? How do they uncorrupt him? This should all be a part of the lead.
  • "overall gameplay as compared to the original release on the Wii U" -- Awkward sentence, try "overall gameplay compared to the Wii U release".
  • "changes to their level objects to accommodate" -- Maybe just something like "certain levels have been redesigned slightly to accommodate characters' new speed"?
  • Converting a list to prose is not just removing the bullet points. It should read as a coherent paragraph, not just random sentences of facts.
  • "Both fonts were produced by Fontworks." -- This seems irrelevant to the overall game.
  • "who has become much larger and more powerful, known in this form as Fury Bowser" -- There are a few sentences like this that have information simply added to the end to form a run-on sentence, rather than rewrite it to incorporate the information. For example, this should be "who has become a larger and more powerful form known as Fury Bowser."
  • "suggesting that Fury Bowser was created by him painting his father with black paint, which corrupted him similarly to the events of Paper Mario: Color Splash" -- "Suggesting" is speculation, and the connection to Color Splash is vague at best (Jr wasn't even in that game).
  • Not a fan of the word "careening", use a regular synonym like "launching" or "sending".
  • "The object of the game" -- The objective of the game.
  • "However, at certain time intervals" -- How long, exactly? Every few minutes? Is it dependent on player progress?
  • First paragraph of gameplay is written in future tense rather than present.
  • "Each region contains four majo islands" - Major islands.
  • "five Cat Shines, Various other" -- Should be a period rather than a comma.
  • Boss table should use a similar formatting and style to the other tables.

Most of this should be easily fixable. Scrooge200 (talk) PMCS Mustard Cafe Sign.png 13:46, May 5, 2021 (EDT)

I have played the game, and one thing I should point out is "Jr painting his father", which is shown in the pictures in the credits, so that could probably just be reworded. However, I think mentioning Color Splash is stretching it a bit. Another is the "level changes" one, not just the characters' faster speed but also the fact that the Switch doesn't use a microphone. I've attempted to rewrite the changes section a bit: I did my best to organize paragraphs based on attributes (basic gameplay, world map, level layouts, power-ups, unlockables, misc) and rewrote some sentences to be more active than passive, to make it flow a bit better than a bullet-less listicle. Any other suggestions to the changes section. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 16:04, May 5, 2021 (EDT)
I made a couple grammatical/sentence corrections as suggested by Scrooge200, but there is still some ways to go. TasteTheFiresOfHelp (talk)
It's better now. However, I still think the boss table should be expanded a bit (what do you get from beating a boss?). Also, is Bowser's Fury a mode or a game? It switches between sections of the article, and we should find a consistent way to refer to it. Scrooge200 (talk) PMCS Mustard Cafe Sign.png 16:15, May 5, 2021 (EDT)
I've addressed both the boss table and that bullet point list of suggestions you made. Personally, in other articles I've referred to each of 3D World and Bowser's Fury as "campaigns", which I can change any contrasting terminology in the main article to fit with. 0blivion (talk) 16:19, May 5, 2021 (EDT)
For consistancy I think the returning enemies should be put in a table rather than a gallery section as well. I'll work on that myself, and I'll include the locations these enemies are found in. Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 16:47, May 5, 2021 (EDT)
Done a table for the returning enemies. Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 17:56, May 5, 2021 (EDT)
Changed to paragraph form on character movement visual effects, with the one thing being it should go to more detail on “Cat Mario has a new swipe movement” TasteTheFiresOfHelp (talk) 19:08, May 5, 2021 (EST)
Is there anything other than the Changes section of the article that needs to be addressed? I'm waiting for that section to be finished before proofreading and editing it. I believe everything else has been finished. 0blivion (talk) 11:25, May 6, 2021 (EDT)
I'm going to change the sections of the change section (lol) soon but I have a final test in my college class so I can't do much right now. TasteTheFiresOfHelp (talk), 16:29, May 6, 2021, (EST)

I think some of the levelbox images should be higher quality, because they're at weirdly small resolutions. For example, File:Marioriskywhiskerisland.png is 1022 × 573. Scrooge200 (talk) PMCS Mustard Cafe Sign.png 19:25, May 6, 2021 (EDT)

I'll take full-resolution images of all thirteen locations in Snapshot Mode and replace them. Should they be with or without a white border? That appears on every Snapshot Mode photo. I can remove it manually, or just keep it when I upload the images. 0blivion (talk) 20:13, May 6, 2021 (EDT)
You could probably crop the borders out. Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 20:36, May 6, 2021 (EDT)

I've been trying to put bullet points in the locations lists for the enemies, although when I previewed it the bullet points don't seem to work. Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 18:30, May 8, 2021 (EDT)

I do know how to fix that, but currently I really don't think the descriptions for all the cat variations are necessary, because a) almost every enemy is identical to their Super Mario 3D World version and b) mentioning that every enemy has cat features in their sections is very redundant, in my opinion. 0blivion (talk) 22:56, May 8, 2021 (EDT)
Yeah, they all seemed very repetative, I went and removed them. The top of the section even mentions so already. Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 06:29, May 9, 2021 (EDT)
