This beach is part of Isle Delfino in Super Mario Sunshine. A great sandbird egg was here for some time and many solar plates kept it warm. During Mario's time on the island, a large Wiggler napped on the nest where the sandbird's egg was. After being awakened, it rampaged the area, leaving Mario to defeat it. Mario eventually got to ride the sandbird and collect 8 red coins. Gelato Beach is on the "stomach" of the dolphin shapped island, east of Sirena Beach.

Cataquacks inhabit this area. Large Cataquacks called Plungelos are responsible for messing up the solar plates, which allowed the Wiggler to inhabit the area. Of particular notice are sand designs that pop up after spraying Dune Buds with water, which also happen to be the key to defeating Cataquacks. There is a watermelon festival at the hut to the west of the beach. Also in the area there is a coral reef where many fish lurk about. Additionally, there is an ampitheatre overlooking the whole beach, from which many tightropes extend.

This is the first level of Super Mario Sunshine to use the Noki people, and to feature an appearence of Il Piantissimo. It's the largest beach in the game, with catamaran boats, surfboards, huts and tourists.

Gelato also happens to be an Italian ice cream.
