Swooper
Description
Bat enemies that appeared in Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
Sub-Species
- Swoopula: A Swooper found mostly in Palaces. It sucks Mario's HP to add to its own.
- Swampire: A feared Swooper that lives in the darkness. The strongest Swooper. It sucks Mario or his partner's HP to add to its own. The name of this enemy is a pun on the word "Vampire".

Swooper
HP: 4, Attack: 2, Defense: 0
Tattle: This is a Swooper, a ghost bat. Swoopers got their name because they swoop down out of the shadows. Even Jump attacks can't reach 'em when they're hanging on the ceiling, but earth tremors will knock 'em loose. Parakarry can also knock 'em loose with one of his moves. You can attack 'em however you choose once they're hovering in the air.
Swoopula
HP: 8, Attack: 2, Defense: 0
Tattle: This is a Swoopula. Swoopulas attack from the air and cling to you to suck your HP. Hit A repeatedly to fight it off or else it'll keep sucking your HP. You can't jump high enough to attack them while they're hanging from the ceiling. An earthquake attack ought to work, though. Flying party members, like Bow or Parakarry, can also attack them with ease. If they fall and begin to flap around, you can attack them by jumping as well.

That's a Swooper. I bet they call it that 'cause of the way it swoops around. Wow! That's some AMAZING naming work. Seriously! It's pure naming genius!!! So, anyway... Says here it hangs from the ceiling. If you can just damage it, it oughta drop off the ceiling. And then you can whack it!

That's a Swoopula. An airborne, bloodsucking batlike thing. As if losing HP wasn't bad enough, this little creep adds yours to its own! How totally, totally gross! Don't let it bite me, Mario!
Swampire
HP: 20, Attack: 6, Defense: 0
That's a Swampire. It's a feared health-sucker that hides in the darkness. It sucks health from its prey to add to its own HP. And that... totally grosses me out like you wouldn't believe. If you let it feast on you, its HP will get really high. Focus your attacks on it!
